3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark Amber beer with soft fluffy off white head. Nose of hops that is pretty intense upon the first whiffs.
Pleasantly hoppy with a malt back bone. Interesting Strong Ale. I was surprised how the malty complexity was nicely balanced and often overpowered by the hops. Great Beer to drink while watching and Evening with Kevin Smith.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2012 Pours a beautiful red copper colour with beige lacing and head. A great looking beer! Nice floral, malty aroma. Very nice buttery palate, I dont normally comment on palate, but this is worth a mention. Tastes of malt followed by piney, sour grapefruit hops. A real nice and different drink, liked it alot.

12 oz Bottle -- Pours rich cherry-copper with a small off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, butter, cherry, current, and hops. On the drier side with a pronounced bitter finish. Surprisingly drinkable for an 8% strong ale.

Deep burnt orange fills the glass, topped by a lingering film of soft eggshell foam. Rich grapefruit meets the nose, overpowering whatever else lies beneath. Taste of piney citrus, rich toasty/roasty malt goodness with a certain residual sweetness. Ethereal ethanol dances just within the range of perception, with promises of happy dreams. A well balanced concoction that is sure to be regular guest at mi casa.

Hard to pick out specifics in the aroma. Some hops and citrus. Fairly smooth but the end is pretty bitter. some grassy notes. For the style, not a bad brew I guess...but I donít care for it all that much.

pours a beautiful clear red amber, with a thick cream head that sticks around forever. still waiting. great lacing, by the way. ok, now it’s subdued enough to smell. great citrus hops take the forefront, tons of pineapple and grapefruit and maybe a bit of apricot. really citrusy. the malt plays a solid role as well, contributing solid amber, bready/nutty/caramelly notes. in the taste, the citrus hops slow down a tad, giving way to some fruity, piney, and floral notes. but the malt comes out much more, and really that nutty/bready crystal taste. very solid. palate is lightly bitter, but lingering, with a sort of earthy aftertaste. solid creamy yet slick mouthfeel, and plenty of carbonation. medium-to-heavy body. absolutely delightful! the first time i had this beer, it was on tap, and it was ice cold. i thought it was quite bland. now that i can taste it warmer, it’s tremendous. glad i bought a case of it!

On tap at fountainhead. Pours a deep clear copper with a frothy white head. A fruity sweet aroma. Taste is a nice balance of hops and malt. Has that traditional strong ale taste. A subtle hop bitterness with a carmel sticky fruit finish. Not too gummy or heavy. I could have had another.

This beer is hard to pin down -- I think its father was a Belgian Strong Ale and its mother was an IPA. It might have some Marzen ancestry as well. Wonderful stuff. Lovely mahogany color, very bold hoppy taste with some strong malt too.

Clear cinnamon color with frothy off-white head. Nose of caramel, orange, butterscotch. Medium body, a bit flat in the carbonation department. Syrupy, with brown sugar, birch, resin. I remember liking this much more in years past. Copying, overly malfunction, generally boring.
