3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a bottle into a pub style glass. Pours a medium red, clear, with a slightly tan head that retains quite well. Aroma started out with a sweet/citrus/hops that was almost candy like just as it was poured, to being a fairly mild, more piney hop as it settled. Pleasant, but weak. Flavour, on the other hand, it’s good and strong. Very well balanced, a bit more towards the malt which is rich carmel offset with strong toastyness and roastyness, a little coffee even. Hops are still quite prevalent, tasting, well, hoppy, rather than specifically piney or floral or citrusy. Body is a slightly heavy medium, with a bit of stickyness, and a good bit of bitterness (perhaps augmented by alcohol) causing a little tinglyness. A little more bitterness in feel at the end than I would prefer, but otherwise, this is a darn fine beer. Very refreshing for how big a beer it is.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The color is a murky amber red with a short light-tan head with good retention and great lacing. The nose is a bit of roasted nuttiness with some caramel, light fruity and some citrus. The taste has some malt sweetness with some citrus and pine hop flavor. Finishes clean and semi dry. Medium bodied with a moderate/ high carbonation. Enjoyable and drinkable but unremarkable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Attractive dark copper color with slight light tan head.
Aroma is balanced between hops and malt. (The commercial description as Burning River’s little brother is fairly apt.)
Taste is also nicely balanced, though not complex enough to be a great beer.
Palate is medium to full bodied; carbonation is dominates the mouth feel; nice, moderately long finish.
Overall a quite nice very enjoyable, though not great, beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark amber with a foamy white head. This beer has a lot of complexity. Aroma is caramel malts and a touch of bourbon. Flavor is a little bit bitter, caramel, and burnt malts. I enjoyed this a lot.

3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
It is too malty and too happy at the same time. Personal thing but the extremes don’t make this one very pleasurable. Damn. I wanted to like it.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft: Big...malty beer that is then punched with a healthy citrus hop bite. This is a very nice beer, and the style is something unique that you don’t expect. Very good beer, will sneak up on you if you aren’t careful.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
In the style of a Belgian brown ale. Deep red with roasted malt flavors. Very good but would be hard to go to a light beer after. A bit bitter. Enjoyed it!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice looking deep amber beer with a medium foamy tan head. Hoppy nose of citrus, spruce, and pine resin. The flavor is totally hop forward, which is a bit of a let down. The bitterness has lots of layers reminiscent of the nose, but it overpowers any semblance of malt sweetness. This is definitely not "remarkably balanced." Not bad, but I was looking for something different from this red ale.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2014 bottle. Pours a clear red amber with a dense khaki head. Aroma is a slightly grainy and sweet malt with some citrus. The sweet malt follows into the flavor with a nice roastiness and some caramel and citrus. Has a fairly intense pine and slightly floral bitterness. Fairly well balanced with the bitterness winning at the end. Starts wet and ends a little dry due to the bitterness. Medium mouthfeel.
