Bottle poured into a snifter. Beautiful reddish copper with moderate white head, dissipates fairly quickly with light lacing. Aroma is strong caramel malts with pine and bits of hops and floral scents. The taste is a fantastic balance of hops and malt with a distinct pine taste and very bitter aftertaste at the back of the throat. Smooth and crisp feel with a good amount of carbonation. I love this beer, one of the best Iíve tried.

On draft at Crimson American Grill, York, PA, served in a shaker glass. Pours clear reddish amber, One finger dense off white head with awesome lacing and retention. Aroma of toffee and herbs. Taste is primarily sweet but has enough bitterness in the background to balance. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, slick mouth feel. The finishes reveals a drying bitterness. Tasting notes of caramel, toffee, nuts, wildflowers, grass and light citrus. A great strong ale that I would drink again.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark deep amber with a thin tan head. Aroma is pine hops, with some caramel sweetness, citrus and bread. Flavor is hop forward for sure, moderately sweet with caramel malts, bread, and plenty of piney hops. Long finish had some earthiness. Not bitter but a little too hoppy for my taste. Interesting brew.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear royal-red pour with two finger off-white head (fairly vigorous pour). Malt-loaded toastiness, autumnal foliage and sweetness, inklings of cascade-like hops on nose. As always with Great Lakes, supremely balanced. Sweet, richly gliding toasted malts escorting a tapered yet satisfying grapefruit flowery hoppiness. Artfully crafted. Not sure about such negative reviews, but Great Lakes tends to brew very traditionally and with great balance and integrity. Of course it wonít be a complex hop bomb, itís a red ale. Either way, very proud to be a stones throw from these guys.
