COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale’s big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

Feels hoppier than it is, and the mouth feel is a little light. There’s a nice nutty flavor underpinning the bitterness. Doesn’t compare to the Lake Erie Monster, and doesn’t really offer anything radically different to justify it either. It’s pretty good for what it is.

Pours a bronze-red with a foamy tan head. Smells of bread - whole grain wheat and rye, nuts. Taste is sweet and moderately bitter - bread and roast nuts, floral grassy hops.

Damn this is drinkable. Pours red, a little cloudy, with a nice thick head that lasts. Great spicy rye aroma with some hops in the background. Great thin body. Good balance of spicy malts, sweetness, and hop bitterness. Good stuff.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. There are strong malt notes throughout, caramel, toffee, bready. There is solid citrusy hops that balance the maltiness. There is a slight grassy vegetal hop character. Lingering bitterness.

On draft at Crimson American Grill, York, PA, served in a shaker glass. Pours clear reddish amber, One finger dense off white head with awesome lacing and retention. Aroma of toffee and herbs. Taste is primarily sweet but has enough bitterness in the background to balance. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, slick mouth feel. The finishes reveals a drying bitterness. Tasting notes of caramel, toffee, nuts, wildflowers, grass and light citrus. A great strong ale that I would drink again.

Part of a sampler at Jet Rock at PHL terminal B. Clear amber with off white head. All malt. Malt, malt and more malt. Slight alcohol burn and slight cloying. Did not get the hops out of this, but not bad.
