3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a red amber. Medium sized off white head that is long lasting and diminishes to a filmy finish. Sweet caramel aroma. Flavor is of slightly sweet hops. Some lacing. I was expecting this to be big and bold, but really it wasnít. There was a really nice delicate balance between sweet and bitter. Very nice. My only disappointment is that I only bought a single.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I like this better as it warms a bit. It has a sweetness in the malts and then a hop bitterness. Slightly citrusy and a bit of pine, but one style of hops does not seem to overpower the other. Pretty balanced. Goes with a lot of the cooking I do, or as a solo beer.
I remember loving this one and always searching for it. Now my tastes have expanded and it is not as good as remembered. Having said that, it is still one I consider a very good beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at lake and Irving. Tulip glass. Mahogany color with thick head and great lacing. Sugar aroma. Malty and slightly bitter. Good depth of flavor. Cloying and piney, but not inappropriately so. Has some oktoberfest elements. Good fall beer.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at Lake & Irving in a tulip glass. Deep amber hue with impressive lacing. Sweet aroma with a sugar, caramel essence. Really enjoyable smell giving way to a malt-laced, sweet influenced, hop infused delicious beer. Some hop bitterness at the very end. Reminds me of the sugary Belgian ales Iíve sampled. A pleasant surprise with a credit due to commonshawn for the recommendation/push.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap. Pours deep clear red amber into a tulip glass. 3/4 inch head is barely dissipating. Subtle hoppy aroma, taste is amazingly balanced and smooth, just bitter enough. Surprising light mouthfeel for a strong brew.

"Not too many reviews from the Spring since this is a fall release. Iím impressed enough to leave this on my wish list in hopes of trading for a super fresh one next fall. The one Iím drinkin is 18 weeks old, which I was very apprehensive about due to the style (imperial red). Turns out, itís really nice 4+ months old, and I imagine fanfreakintastic fresh. The pine centric bitter hops are still very pleasant, but have obviously faded. Colored like a dark oktofest or Irish red. The malts used are complex and very pleasant. This brew smells md tastes fruity, almost berry like, with caramel, biscuit and a distinct nuttiness that all go well with the hops. Another winner from a top brewery. Pretty mix what I was hoping for...even more impressive given the date. Trade via Heybeerman. Thanks, bro."

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted from bottle. Pours a nice red amber color with nice tan head. Good lacing. Aroma is malt dominated with sweet notes and caramel. Some earthy and piney notes. Taste is very well balanced and complex as expected from a Great Lakes beer. Moderate clean bitterness with nice caramel and toffee malt backbone. Some earthy and pine flavors. Medium bodied. Excellent red IPA.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours clear dark amber, finger thick tan head, nice lacing. Aroma toasted malt, caramel, earthy, citrus hops, slight pine, a little fruity. Taste balanced, toasted and caramel malt, citrus abs pine hops right behind, a little roast and bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel fuller side of medium body, medium carbonation, slight alcohol and hop astringency, slightly dry finish. Overall tasty, complex, balanced beer, another great seasonal from GLB, maybe the best red ipa Iíve had.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a bottle into a Great Lakes Brewing Co. pint glass a clear red amber with a huge tan head.
Aroma is hoppy caramel.
Flavor has hop upfront and sweetness not over malted to follow. A beautiful brew. The balance of this Imperial is so well done thickness, sweet, hoppy as heck. GL does another outstanding seasonal brew. 2nd only to Chillwave as my most favorite.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice looking pour, orange-red. Aroma is dominated by a malty sweet smell, plenty of hops, too. Taste is a bit surprising at first, just a little medicinal sting to it. Grew to like it. A nice malty strong IPA.
