Drank out of a frosty pint poured from a twelve ounce bottle at Nono’s in Moosic, Pa. Pours black with a bit of light brown head. Smells sweet, has some bitterness, a bit too toasted for my liking.

Bottle. Black with no head. Aroma is burnt sugar, light coffee and dark roasted barely. Flavor is a.duplicate with a lingering sugar sweetness. Flavor has a low level of roastyness with the correct flavors in style. Very easy to drink. Mild creamy texture gives it decent drinkable ability.

2015-12-19. Black body, small tan head. 3++ Moderate roast and dark malt. Similar flavour with nice roast character, dark malt base. Average plus body, good carbonation. Relatively straightforward enjoyable stout. 7/3/7/3/14 Bottle shared by DuctTape.

Bottle. Nose inky chocolate with plum and some sweetness, roast. Pours deep, dark brown that just makes it to black in the glass, head is sudsy tight light brown. Taste dry with dense, tiny carbonation and smooth, lasting roast that coats; nice dark chocolate, though less than expected, and layers of roast without any getting too dark (i.e., black). Expected more smoothness from the oats, but this isn’t that; body is very thick, very full, yes, but it’s a balance of malt and strong carbonation instead, without much tang or any acridity. Very nice, and would very easily adapt to a spicing regimen for a winter warmer. [2015.12.23: 3.6]

Bottle, enjoy by January 31, 2016.
Appearance: A short head is coaxed on a hard pour with mediocre retention. The body is opaque black, but looked clear on the pour.
Aroma: This smells like a used cigar ashtray with a dash of chocolate. Not very appealing.
Taste: Taste is watery, mild chocolate lingering at the end, but a bit astringent with a dash of smoke. Not appealing.
Palate: Watery.
Overall: What a lame beer. I don’t know if things changed at Great Lakes, but this beer wouldn’t have been released a few years ago. This is pretty bad.

For an oatmeal stout, this is pretty textbook what you want. Thick and rich mouth feel. Real full and not watered down. Dark black brown. Heavy oatmeal style scent and earthy taste as expected. Tap
