Draft at brewpub. Poured a black color with a medium off-white creamy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium toasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration. Solid drinkable brew.

On draught at the brewpub. GLBC has a couple great Stouts, namely Blackout (esecially the Barrel-Aged) and Wolfhound. Being a Stout-lover and knowing their track record, I was looking forward to their take on the Sweet Stout. While not disappointed, the beer does fall just a bit short. The beer pours black as pitch with a thick and foamy light tan head and sticky lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate. Creamy with a medium body and roasted character. Flavors of coffee, malt and chocolate are tasty but donít resonate long enough. The finish is dry with a mild bitterness. Good for the style, but I know GLBC could do even better.

Tap. Poured near black with a creamy beige head. The ar oma picked up semi-sweet black and chocolate malts with a touch of vanilla and milk sugar accents. The flavor found sweeter chocolate and vanilla with dry hops around. . A touch buttery toward the end.. very solid for the style. Light-medium bodied with solid carbonation.. very drinkable.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Revolution. Pours a brown color with amber highlights and a small tan head. Coffee, oats, toast, and chocolate are all present in the aroma and flavor, but the nose also has an odd gamey character to it. That really threw me off. Super light in body, with low carbonation and a thin but roasty mouthfeel. A little disappointing, though not bad.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap: Opaque with small creamy head and very good lacing. The aroma has notes of sweet chocolate malts, oats, hazelnut, lactic sourness, floral and grassy hops. The taste starts with bittersweet dark malts and a orange twang. Nutty undertones leads to a good bitter and smoky finish. The mouthfeel is smooth, soft, and easy going. This is a solid draft only offering.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This draft brew from the brew pub poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark black brown colored body and a good lacing. The balanced aroma was brown malt and roasted malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The good flavor contained notes of mildly vinous brown malt dark malt hops malt and bread dough. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pint on tap at Tap House. Almost-black color, but still clear around the edges. Good, even lace. Lighter body, good smooth lighter carbonation. Easy-drinking. Nice toasty malts, light roast, good hearty oatmeal, light amount of more darker chocolate. Nice sweet taste, but not too sweet. Still a nice bitterness. Good, long oaty lightly chocolatey toasty aftertaste, especially for the lighter ABV. Hint of smoke in the finish, which I really enjoy. Doesnít have a thick, chewy body like some other oatmeal stouts have, but itís still a great, drinkable oatmeal stout.

Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 beers this beer poured a black color with a small foamy beige head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was dry, bitter, woody and a touch roasty. The flavor was dry, bitter, very woody, a touch sour and roasty. Long bitter and woody finish. Light to medium body. Blah.
