On tap at the bourbon barrel blackout stout party: pours dark, hazy reddish brown, thin tan ring. Nose is caramel malts, bourbon, mild hop earth. A fair amount of bourbon, esters and old ale musty characteristics. Pretty darn good.

On draught at Winking Lizard. The beer pours a dark reddish-amber color with a thin light beige head that disappears quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark malts and bourbon. Full-bodied with a bourbon forward flavor and notes of ripe fruit, caramel malt and vanilla. The finish is boozy with a lingering oaky vanilla aftertaste. Could use more balance but still a pretty good beer.

This poured a darker red color with a small beiege head. Aroma was lots and lots of bourbon, not much else int he way of malt or hops. Flavor was much the same, some hot bourbon, light caramel and toffee and some dark fruits, but mainly booze. Meh.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TheBeerOrg (2136) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - NOV 7, 2010
Pours amber brown with a mostly receding off-white head. Notes of bourbon, light chocolate, vanilla, spice and oak. Full bodied, alcoholic with soft carbonation. Too much time in the barrel for my liking.

I was able to get a growler from a 1/6 barrel leftover from a local Great Lakes Beer Tasting event here in Dayton. As a side note, great event hosted at Dorothy Lane Market, and Lisa from Great Lakes did a great job. Dark mahogany, a little cloudy. Not much head, but that maybe due to I was unable to open the growler until a few days following the event.
Woody and oak aromas with an alcohol presence, more rum-like than bourbon. I’m picking up a big alcohol presence, but again like the aroma, not necessarily bourbon flavors. Fruity raisins and dates flavor complement the alcohol, with a little bit of bourbon flavors in the aftertaste.
Full bodied, low carbonation, syrupy mouthfeel. Nice sipping beer for a cool Autumn evening. Very easily drinkable that can sneak up on you. A couple glasses out of my growler and I am definitely feeling it.

On tap at Great Lakes Brewing Company. I lost my notes so this rating is from memory. Ruddy orange-red body, thin buff head. Nose and body of funky, fermented fruits, buttery, musty oak and bourbon. Sweet, somewhat tart, and potent with noticeable alcohol content. Very enjoyable.

reddish brow with mild white head. strong bourbon notes to the nose. flavor is immediately all bourbon, but as the beat warms and opens, the flavor evolves incorporating some hop bitterness and flavor, but the malt is mostly overshadowed by the ever-present bourbon. a digestive, that is enjoyable, but the bourbon doesn’t complement the underlying beer, just smothers it
