4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jokes (1453) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 28, 2004
Draught. Deep chestnut with a thick, tan head. Heavy malty aroma of caramel, chocolate, nuts and light cereals. Light hints of ripe fruit come out at times. The full, clean body hugs the tongue. Great malt flavors dominate accompanied by some residual sweetness. Light hops come out at the very end to prevent the malt from being too much. A really nice bock and another great offering from GLBC.

On tap: Dense reddish brown with a thin head A bit murky, but still kind of "glowing". Mildy malty nose. Lots of sweet crystal malt with hints of chocolate, and a dab of alcohol. Smooth and full bodied. Pretty good, and easy to knock back.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 blank (997) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 15, 2004
On Tap from Brewery: A decent bock, not as strong or dark as i was expecting. But the 7.5 really sneaks up on you. Still a full bodied (not quite rich) malt beer.

Had this at the brewpub while visiting Cleveland last weekend for the Disturbed concert. It's hard for me to grab a nose off tap, but I detected cinnamon, ginger, alcohol, and faint caramel. The brew is dark brown with hazy ruby highlights. The creamy tan head is mostly lasting with good lacing. The very rich and spicy flavor is lightly roasted and sweet with a long sweet finish. The full body is oily and soft, and feels dry at the finish.

The least impressive beer I’ve had from this brewer. Little malt complexity and very, very smooth.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ravidesai (940) - Bombay, INDIA - APR 22, 2002
dark but brown with almost no head. aroma of malt sugars, caramel and burned fruit.
pleasantly sweet taste with the fruit flavours(mostly plum) becoming more prominent as the beer warmed.
moderately hopped to keep this from becoming to sugary. the alcohol is very apparent and probably kills off some delicate flavours.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Drew (2413) - Kent, Ohio, USA - APR 15, 2002
nice thick dark bock (was slightly darker than the above picture). Roasted/caramel malt flavors. Not as sweet as many other bocks I’ve had lately, which was a welcome change. Not much hop presence. (tasted from the tap, in the pub, 4/13/02)
