Dark golden color very dense white head with great lacing. Well coated palate a bit acidic in the post swallow. Aroma of rye grass and a hint of sweet. Flavor is quite bitter grassy notes a fair amount of caramel finishes. Ok but not as good as I would have hoped.

Bottle: pours a dark burnt orangeish color with a nice off white head. Aroma is spice and light citrus, breadiness. The flavor is very nice... a bitter bite that is balanced by the breadiness. Great beer.

Sixer from Samís, Durham. Great Lakes has been killing it with IPAs lately. This nicely spicy one might be the best of the lot. Nice hazy gold pour, vigorous carbonation and head. Bright hops are everywhere in the aroma, with spicy notes in there for contrast. Much more integration of the two in the flavors, which are nicely balanced between bitter and floral. The long spicy finish really adds personality too.

Purchased at the Westchester, Ohio (a Cincinnati suburb, and the home area of House Speaker John Boehner) - this is a fine rye ale, and is the celebratory 25th anniversary brew by Flying Dog.

Pours hazy copper with white head. Aroma is strong citrus hops. Nice floral and citrus hop flavors, caramel malt backbone the rye gives it a little extra spiciness. Really good.

Bottles. This was a shocker, because I was not expecting it to be as good as it was; especially considering the now wide availability. Orange color - tan head, aroma is packed with hops; citrus, grass, etc. Taste smooth and somewhat refreshing - no alcohol burn for a 7.5% beer. This one is now in my six pack rotation from the local grocery store.

bottle. Amber with small head. Huge rye and hops. Maybe a bit too much rye for my tastes, but itís everything youíd expect from a Rye-based IPA.

Location: 12 oz bottle from jcos, 6/14/13

Aroma: The nose of this one has some peach/tropical hops, some light pine, spice, and rye
Appearance: It pours a hazy orange color with thin head that leaves some mild lace
Flavor: Tastes of spice and rye bread up-front with some later fruity flavors and medium-plus bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a nice, clean feel, average carbonation, and a spicy, dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a really nice RyePA and it is extremely drinkable. I enjoyed it. This one drinks so easy youíd think itís a 4% beer, so at 7.5% it could be pretty dangerous.

bottle recíd in trade from ?? nice honey golden pour with white head with nice lacing. Aroma is nice - malt, orange, pine. Hops hit early in taste but is decently balanced with citrus, grapefruit and the malts. not my style, but a good rye ipa; finishes drying and with a rye and pepper bite.
