3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle by 06/17/13, here on 05/02/13. Nose heavy lemon and grapefruit, tropical lean, pungent hops. Pretty golden body with a tight, rocky beige head. Taste is strongly bitter with plenty of juicy oils and faint resin, a little booze and strong Centennial-like floral character, strong citrus, strong rye. Full body, very heavy. The perfume element is quite bold here, puts me off at speed or volume; I find Sierra Nevada’s recent rye more to my liking.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours clear and orange with a nice soapy white head that dissipates to a wispy film and good collar. Aroma has good rye and malt with an earthy piny hop presence. Taste is more bitter earthy pine and subtle citrus along with plenty of rye and a little caramel malt. Palate is thin and drying with solid carbonation. Nice brew!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear amber pour with a 2 finger, creamy off white head that has excellent retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma of toast, fruity, citrus esters, citrus hops, stone fruit, bread, toast, and light floury grain, floral hops and sweet grass. Flavor is big with toast, cereal, and caramel right away, soon joined by citrus, light pine, an acidic hop twang, floury, slightly spicy rye, a hint of herbal earthiness and finishing with increasingly bitter citrus, pine and ever so faint mango. Light to medium body with a dry, even slightly chalky, (though slightly oily), feel overall and a slightly boozy astringency to the finish. Pretty good overall, but it could definitely use some help in the Palate department

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is sweet, I get a ton of apricot, sweet grapefruit, the rye is present. Appearance is lighter than I thought, closer to a typical IPA color than a rye, a golden orange with a one and a half finger off-white head. Taste is overwhelming rye to start, finishing with a overly hoppy flavor that lingers for a minute or two. The mouthfeel is perfect, a soft carbonation. Overall, this is pretty good, although I expected it to be sweeter. This starts one way and finishes another, making it pretty complex. I apppreciate the intense rye flavor. A solid summer beer. Must try!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Cloudy appearance, dark orange. Subtle aroma of fruits but very acidic, alcohol tones, but fresh cut grass too. VERY smooth palate, and the taste has great subtle aftertones. This is a winner in my book.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour is very pretty soft straw gold with two fingers of tight eggshell white head. The aroma is very nice, soft tropical fruits and overripe citrus flesh. Some peachy notes show with a touch of sweetness on the back of the nose. Wonderful body, full and round with a peppery bitterness. Becomes astringent on the finish. Mango and citrus round out the flavor. Peppery/spicy for sure.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle. Golden color and clear - expected haze from hops and/or rye. Hop aroma but nondescript and not picking up rye. Flavor is all hop astringency and little rye. Finally picking up rye dryness in the finish but not like in other Rye IPAs. Big fan of GL beers - EF is my favorite Robust Porter and Alchemy Hour was a huge hit but this disappoints. It is more like an astringent IPA with a dry finish than a Rye IPA.
