Bottle. Before I even open this and pour it, it picks up an extra +1 to overall solely for the name being awesome. Pours a lightly hazed golden orange with a thin white head. Malty and sweet, a bit of rye with some slow citrus hops and caramel. Medium bodied, spicy citrus. Big grapefruit and pungent quinine and earthiness on the finish. Didnít quite live up to the great name it has, but still a decent enough rye ipa.

12oz bottle (one month past the best by date to the day) from Canalís Fire Rd. Poured a hazy honey orange body with a frothy smaller mostly white head. Aroma of bready sweetness, rye notes, citrusy, orange slices, sweet grains some molasses as well. Nice body that finishes slightly dry with a touch of spice and bitterness. Flavor of dry hop cones, rye toast, some dough sweetness and a bitter citrus rind finish.

A mild ryePA. Nothing here is big - not the hops, not the rye - but it comes together nicely enough. Far from best in class though.

In short: A caramelized rye beer with a good citrusy hopping. Very good.
How: A few 12oz bottles shared by friends at a tasting, probably fresh.
The look: Clear darfk golden body topped by a persistent small beige head.
In long: Nose is clean and bright rye and citrus fruits. Taste has a good fresh rye presence with its usual intrinsic spiciness. Some caramel. A generous hopping that is predominantly citrus fruits. Obviously plays in the same territory as the classic Founders Red Rye, a little less rye-forward and less hop-forward as the Red Rye, kind of a lower intensity version of the Red Rye. I liked it a lot. Another rating, and I have become so proficient with this whole ratebeer thing that I am now riding my bike with no hands while using my smartphone to upload this rat

Bottle @ home, courtesy of my Secret Santa. Thanks! Best by 6/18/13. Pours a hazy yellow orange appearance with a khaki head. Slightly spicy, a bit bready, herbal, lightly fruity flavor. Mild grapefruit citrusy, chewy bready, lightly toasted malty, slightly spicy flavor. Definitely a bit old.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a slightly cloudy orange with a half finger of white head. Aroma of rye with a little pine and citrus. Taste is mrdium bitter and is the same as aroma. Medium bodied with a somewhat slick texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, very good.

Total Wine, Fairfax 12oz: Pours a copper color with an off-white head. Aroma is grass and rye. Pretty much not citrus. Mostly a combination of rye and grassy hops. Melded together very well. Easily sessionable. A tad bitter.
