Bottle into snifter glass. Hazy yellow-ish copper color with white head. Aroma of fruity/piney hops, caramel malt and rye spiciness. Taste for me really brings out hop flavors (vs just bitterness), the rye either enhances it or just plays a minimal role. Medium body, average carbonation, balanced, only slightly bitter with dry finish. Great rye IPA, I want more.

Appearance: clear copper amber with a creamy near-white head and decent lacing. Aroma: citrus and pine, with a light caramel malt note. Taste: citrus (grapefruit), apricot, light resin, with a firm caramel and brown bread malt bill, accented by just a bit of rye heat. Finish: not overly bitter, with some pleasantly lasting hop aromatics over the malt sweetness; nicely dry. Notes: Really well done. Balanced flavors, good palate, rye just there enough to be noticed. Bottle from Westover Market, Arlington, Virginia.

Pours a hazy copper with 2 inch, fluffy head. Aroma is typical GL, pine and malt, not much citrus or fruit. Flavor is more typical. A twist on commodore perry. Probably better than perry. Some rye notes and boiled hop flavor that make it palatable. I wish GL would dry hop with nice citrusy stuff. Good thing I didnít pay for it.

On tap at the Olde Lincoln House, Ephrata, PA. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy bronzed golden orange color with a slim bar pourís kind of white head that dissipated gracefully. The smell started with a slight rye malt gracefully blending with a grassy to light citrus hoppiness. The taste blended the spicy rye with the grassy to citrus hop. A light semi-crisp spice to citrus aftertaste leads to a semi-wet citrus finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonated definitely as an AIPA, the bitterness invades and punches my tongue appropriately. Overall, this was a good AIPA with the rye malt to accompany a nice spice. I would definitely have again.

Bottle. Bright orange-copper color with off-white head and substantial lacing. Spice, pepper, orange, grapefruit, and malt flavor. Solid malt backbone with citrus (orange and grapefruit) and pine notes. Rye spiciness throughout, especially in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pint at lady gregoryís. Dark yellow with red tones. Amber. Huge fluffy head. Heavily carbonated. Not too much aroma with all of the head on top, Iíll revisit this later in the tasting. Sharp clean hop bite. The bitterness is real on this, and I love that. Itís hard to isolate the flavors. Some citrus with lots of pine. Bitter finish. Really no nose throughout which is the only downside I can come up with. Iíll drink this again.

Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a light tan head. The smell is spicy, sweet malt, citrus, grain. The taste is malty, sweet, spicy, citrus dry and slightly bitter. The body is medium, silky fine carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange-copper body with a small one finger tight bubbled beige head. The nose is really spicy with the rye, backed up by a hefty citrusy hoppiness and minimal malt. If smells pretty delicious. The flavor is plenty spicy from the rye, big thereís an overly heavy caramel sweetness below it thatís a bit of a turn off for me. Finishes pretty nice, with a bright and bitter hop bite. Medium bodied and fizzy with a lingering finish. Decent stuff, but a little too sweet.

This is alright but not very ryey. Not my favorite rye beer but itís still pretty good. Thatís all there is to say really.
