This kitty has claws. Named for its one-two punch of fierce hops and sharp rye content, our Rye of the Tiger India Pale Ale is a thrilling ale with bite, handcrafted for the fighter in all of us. Like tigers creeping through tall grass, hopheads will stalk this majestic golden brew, rising to the challenge of its bold flavor attack. Full-bodied and loaded with hops, our Rye of the Tiger IPA is brewed with rye malt, adding a spicy complexity to every sip. It’s an ale meant to inspire feats of strength and skill, a worthy contender in the bout against the flavorless. If you can step into the ring with this hopped-up cat, you’ve earned your stripes.

Draft sample. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex hop and earthy malt aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid drinkable brew that exceeded my expectations.

(Rating #8,500) Bottle... Clear orange pour with a small, fluffy, white head. Good retention. The aromatic standouts are tropical fruits and melons. Medium to full-bodied and heavily creamy with stinging carbonation. Crunchy honey and biscuit malts are overwhelmed by spicy, tannic and acrid hops in both the flavor and the astringent, bone-dry finish. Bottle courtesy of BBB63!

Bottle @ home, courtesy of my Secret Santa. Thanks! Best by 6/18/13. Pours a hazy yellow orange appearance with a khaki head. Slightly spicy, a bit bready, herbal, lightly fruity flavor. Mild grapefruit citrusy, chewy bready, lightly toasted malty, slightly spicy flavor. Definitely a bit old.

I found it to be thin and with not a full-force of flavor. IT has some nice flavors of citrus and pine but is weak for the abv.

On draught at Gallo’s Tap Room. This beer pours a slightly hazy orange-gold color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character and flavors of grapefruit and rye malt. The finish is hoppy with a lingering fruit and spicy rye finish. Good beer all around.
