3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear light amber color with a small white head. Distinct rye spice aroma, somewhat medicinal in a good way, hints of grapefruit. Nice sharp bitterness with the citrus hops showing through and the rye taking a back seat to the hops in the taste initially but the rye, with its clever evergreen subtleness, gives this one a little extra bitterness in the overall taste. In the usual Great Lakes way they have produce a very good beer, one that should be a standard in their lineup, even with the cheesy name, it lacks a signature characteristic to give it world class status.

On tap at Progressive Field. A favourite style of mine, and this one doesnít disappoint. Gold-amber with a nice white head. Citrus and caramel in the nose. The flavour is more complex, with lemon and pineapple from the hops joined by peppery rye malt. Nice bitterness level.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Clear gold with a frothy head. Dry rubber aroma of rye followed by a well balanced hop flavor. Many times, the rye is too strong but this is just right.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Lovely SRM 13-15 golden color, absolutely glows, and has a finger of puffy white head.
Aroma is spicy rye malts, like a pumpernickel bread. There is a touch of broccoli sulfuric. I had always thought I was imagining this in the past but at least a year later Iím getting the same thing. It overpowers the hop, which is oily, resinous hops.
The flavor has less of that broccoli stuff, and is very spicy and well-balanced. The spice of the malts and the spice of the hops are a great combination on the palate.
The feel is rough and sandpapery. Iím not advocating to drink this one out of the bottle directly, but itís okay to drink it out of a narrow-rimmed glass. Itís a very solid IPA that could be better if they could figure out that one off-flavor.
