Clear gold with big off-white head. Nose of pineapple, pine, orange zest, and resin. Good medium body with lively carbonation. Subdued flavors of pine, resin, mandarin orange, and rye. Lasting, sweet resinous finish. Pretty good.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep hazy and muddied copper coloured body with tints of orange and bronze and a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of rye, alcohol, yeast, bread and more rye - tons of it - and not many hops to smell, either. Medium to Full-bodied; Dense, deep rye flavours with some alcohol and bitterness behind, all with a very nicely laced piney and floral hop flavour showing a ton of hops and a great balance of the rye and hops. Aftertaste shows exclusively floral and piney hops and TONS of rye - easily the most i’ve had in a rye-based beer. Overall, a nice beer - if you like rye, you’ll love this - perhaps a bit strong for some (including myself), but I can appreciate the difference in flavour and respect the beer as it was intended! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Wegman’s in Sterling, Virginia on 03-May-2013 for US$1.67 sampled at home in Washington on 11-January-2014.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour on tap at Town Hall tap, clear orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of rye, earth, nice orange peel and grass into a slight mix of spice, yeast, hints of grapefruit and orange juice itself. Taste is a mix of orange, grapefruit, and slight pine into a nice spice, grass, rye note in there, with a touch of caramel, toffee, finishing fairly bitter, dry. Nicely done, the rye is well accentuated.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: Hazy Golden Straw Hue, Passes Most Light, White Head Ring, Some Lacing
S: Rye, Grainy, Mild Resin
T: Grainy, Resin, Rye
M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Dry, Semi Bitter
Overall, the rye was a little weak because it got overpowered by the grains and hops but still decent.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: NOV 1, 2013 Pours a nice amber with a full bodied head which laces nicely. Well carbonated. The nose is of citrus and piney hops with a rye overtone. The rye flavor is more pronounced than Founder’s Red’s Rye. Both have the bitterness of an IPA, as they should. Light/Medium bodied with a pleasant bitter aftertaste with a hint of rye against a solid malt backbone. More balanced than Founders, but both have hop bitterness as the dominant flavor. Finishes cleanly with malt and hop bitterness. My favorite rye IPA, so far.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy reddish gold. I love the particles that you can see through the beer. Left a finger's worth of white head that dissipates quickly, leaving a nice lace. The aroma is heavy of fruits. Pineapple and cherry mostly, like an old school fruit cocktail. The taste is a bit slow developing. There is a hint of the cherry in the beginning, and then the spiciness of the rye finally comes in and takes over. It coats the mouth just long enough, rolling to a delightful dry finish. A solid rye beer!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle, this one surprised me, poured a light yellow color with aromas of citrus, light rye, and some light zest. Flavors were a citrusy mix with some pine with a touch of spicy rye in the aftertaste, kudos, a solid beer that I could drink over and over again.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle:   Gold, pale haze, large foamy off-white head, nice lacing.   Soft hop nose, citrus peel, pith, a touch of Rye.   Smooth on the tongue, nice bitterness, mild sweetness, citrusy, with some minor pine.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Nice citrus and pine bitterness on the finish.   Nice balance, never comes across as overly bitter, has a good amount of sweetness to balance it out.   Very solid, and better than most.   Thanks Kevin!

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2013 Lemon and hops jump out at you overtop the puffy white head and golden color. There is a sweetened cake batter smell in there; molasses too. Very bitter, a little dry. Solid IPA
