Golden color, nice lacing. Spicy, great hop presence. I am a fan of hoppy ryes. One of GLBC?s best beers.

Deep golden bodied with a sustained white head, this ale has a caramel nose coupled with lemon zest, pips, and black pepper. Itís got a rich, creamy mouthfeel to it. The flavor begins with caramel and sweet grain soon to be overtaken by a lemony, zesty bitterness. The solid ABV remains well hidden throughout. The finish is dry and bitter, a bitterness that started out quietly but increased during the course of the drinking. Not too shabby.

Bottle. Honey orange. Rye spice, caramel malt, and tropical fruit aroma. The taste follows and adds peach, honey, and mango. Barely any rye in the taste. Light clean mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this but, it was more of a sweet tropical fruity ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours honey color. Big frothy long lasting off white head. Aroma of pine, but also spice. Flavor has citrus and lots of pepper spices. Good lacing. Big hoppy mouthfeel. Dry finish. Good beer that Iíd drink again.

Bottle from Caponeís. Pours medium coppery with off-white head. Nose was hops, rye and caramel malts, spicy. Tasted full bodied, with caramel malt, notes of rye, heavy hops, mango, and a somewhat syrupy yet spicy finish.

Bottle. Poured a golden color with one finger head. Aroma of potent rye bread, rice, and floral grass hay hops. Gives way to a light sweetness and medium light bitter throughout. Very unique and surprisingly pretty good. Yo Adrian- come have a sip of this! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour is medium carbonation, off white to creamy head of 3/4in with gentle bubbles in glass. Slight haze and light amber color. Aroma of bread, pineapple, maybe some apricot(?)--could be a blend of the malt sweetness and pineapple combined. Taste is somewhat thin, slight citrus dryness with back of tongue hop bitterness in finish. Rye could be a bit stronger. Overall a smooth beer, needs a little more depth/complexity to be outstanding.

Poured from a bottle. Amber color with a long-lasting off-white head. Aroma is malt-forward with bread and biscuit ahead of the hops. Taste is initially sweet but thatís quickly followed by pepper, cloves, and maybe even a hint of ginger before the bitterness kicks in. The finish is quite bitter and long. Overall flavor is quite complex. The mouth feel is a little less firm than Iíd prefer, but still tasty, even it itís not an every day beer.

One of my least favorite Great Lakes beers, mostly because of the buttery aftertaste. The peppery spice is nice, though....
