Bottle. Wine Warehouse, CHO. Pours light clear amber with an off-white head. Smells of pine, citrus hops, and pepper. Nice. Malty flavor - much more than I was expecting. Pinecones as well. Bread too.

Clear light copper and orange tinted body with a very thin, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of light grass, some minor hops and a very opaque and discernible smoke and horribly bitter malt/rice characteristic - pungent and way too strong for this style. Light-bodied; Super sharp and incredibly pungent (in a bad way) malt and fish flavours with some smoked tea flavours, hints of pure ash and some subdued tobacco flavours - not so good. Aftertaste shows even worse with the bitterness at the forefront and not much else to be excited about. Overall, a pretty poor offering in relation to every beer, but especially to the style - a sad choice for sure! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Crystal City Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia on 01-April-2015 for US$2,49 sampled at home here in Washington on 21-May-2015.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a clear gold-amber color with a medium rocky white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of citrus, piney hops and malt. Light-bodied with an herbal and resiny hops character and notes of citrus and malt in the background. The finish is mildly bitter with a hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Blah. Not a fan of this. Aroma was pretty bad. A mix of burnt caramel and dirty dishwater. Pour was a dark clear gold with a 2 finger off white head. Taste was not very hoppy. Roasted caramel and just a note of toffee. Not much hops. Mild carbonation. I love session IPAs but this one falls very short.

Bottle after a run. It pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Grassy hop notes, with some citrus notes that fade into a bitter finish. Too bad there is more bitterness than citrus. There’s just a bit of malt sweetness, and a very light body.

Bottle from the GLBC spring variety pack. Pours a medium copper with light lacing. Mouthfeel is very average. Slight grassy and woody aroma. Taste is..... pretty nondescript and blech. Totally uninspiring and crappy beer. I honestly expect a whole hell of a lot more from Great Lakes. It’s like they half-assed this one expecting people not to notice.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 6/8/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear bright golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, mango, melon, pineapple, peach, orange peel, pine, light honey, bread and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, mango, melon, pineapple, peach, orange peel, pine, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, mango, melon, pineapple, orange peel, pine, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a crisp malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a very nice session IPA. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

I thought this had a lot of flavor and aroma for the style. Dominated by pine in the nose and taste, with other spiciness, and a bit of rye in the nose. Some doughy character i.e. malt notes in the taste.
