2013-01-06. Black, nice tan head. 4+ pleasant aroma, modest green hops and mild alcohol, chocolate, dark malt, whispers of bourbon? 7++ flavour is similar, fairly bitter pleasantly so. Light alcohol throughout, very light fruit character grows I’m the finish. A bit of bourbon/oak character but it doesn’t scream barrel aged which is a good thing IMHO. Smooth medium bodied palate, suitable carbonation. 4+ On tap at Brew Market, Brick Works, Toronto

Deep black pour with a tight tan head. The nose is lightly salty with a clean roastiness and a fairly lean malt background. Earthy/herbal hoppiness and a bit of grassy/vegetal flavour that I could probably do without. Assertive bitterness. Drinks more like a black IPA than it does a Baltic Porter. Even a bit resinous as it does a bit of warming up. It’s okay - but misses the mark for me.
