The Negrito Generalissimo Black IPA is the Little Black General, darkened with both domestic roasted barley malt and imported chocolate rye from Germany. Dry-hopped with Qingdao Flower Hops, medium-bodied and weighing in at a hefty 7.1% ABV, our take on an Imperial Black IPA is not for the faint-hearted.

Draft. Pours black. Aroma and taster are pine with some roasted malts. Slightly sweet and bitter.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown, small head. Malty citrus nose. Roasted malts flavours. Good bitterness. Drinkable.

Visited Great Leap and tried 10 of their beers in samplers. All in all I was impressed and happy with the beers. Too bad I forgot pen and paper so take more serious tasting notes so my rating score is based on memory. Great BIPA! Impressed, nice hoppy punch to it with some nice darker malt notes. Very nice!

This was dark in colour and refreshing citrus aroma. It tastes a bit like an IPA, but with caramel and chocolate. Very nice.

My favourite from Great Leap. Black with brown head. Slightly hoppy aroma, but there’s a lot more going on here. Sweet and spicy. Not sure what’s all in this, but it’s very good.
