Bottle. Golden yellow ale with a thick white lagery top. Nose is light and malty grain, like an adjunct lager, but there some definite hoppiness which you don’t usually get from a big label lager. Light lemons and grapefruits. There’s a definite TASTE to this, lemons, grapefruit, all very light and quaffable - just maintaining the lager, without creeping up into IPA territory. Drinking this out of season, but this is really nice.

500ml bottle from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield (recommended) - A nice clear body, thin wispy white head, lasts for a few seconds then gone. Pleasant grainy nose, short bite in the first sip, fruits and sweetness carry through to a short bitter finish. Very pleasant indeed, and a nice change from the heavier winter beers.

rauchbier (3394) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - NOV 13, 2012
Bottle, from Williams Farm Kitchen, Hornsea. Gold, thin shortlived white head and low condition. Gentle chalky malty sweetness, hints of melon and honey and a touch of floral hops in the nose, clean and malty in the mouth with a nicely balanced hop bitterness that has a vague mineral note, lingering but muted hop bitterness in the finish, tempered with a touch of fruity sweet malt.
