500ml bottle from the endlessly wonderful Sourced Market at St Pancras rail station. Orange chestnut clear colour with thin beige head. Rich malty aroma with some toast. Slightly earthy best bitter. Some ok rich malt flavour but mostly earthy hops. Some dryness on finish. Earthy rubberyness isnt great

500ml bottle purchased at Sourced Market, St Pancras train station. Dark brown body, beige bubbly head. Brown malty nose. Malt-fuity to the taste buds with a plain dry bitter end. Quite quaffable (shared with friends, hotel room in London, 21.03.2011).

DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - AUG 1, 2010
Cask handpull, The Devonshire Cat, Sheffield. Pale ruby, slim beige lid. Oily sesame aroma with some coffee, cinder toffee and berries emerging as it gets warmed up. Subtle and slightly damp; choc and sesame, very weak coffee and toasted hazelnut, soapy dabs, apple and earth. Better than I originally gave it credit for.

[on cask @ RBESG 2009] Nutty and quite fruity aroma that is slightly sherry-like. Almost clear chestnut appearance. Nutty flavour that has a little toffee, but is weak. Slightly sour. Light to medium body, low carbonation, slightly nutty finish.

rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - OCT 21, 2009
Bottle, from Asda Grimsby. Copper gold, thin shortlived white head and low condition. Gentle hoppy floral aroma mixed with a scent that immediately reminded me of Sheffield Midland Railway Station in the mid 1980’s, a mix of grime and diesel and used ticket stubs - a pleasant enough aroma but not quite what I would expect from a glass of beer, not such a nostalgic journey in the mouth with gentle toffee notes blending harmoniously with a soft hop bitterness and slight peppery spiciness, quite full bodied and slightly nutty. The nuttiness lingers slowly into the finish, some of the fruity hop bitterness returning and a gentle malty sweetness playing around the lips. Ahh, thats my train now, I must be going.
