500ml Bottle: BBD end of Feb 14, poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged vase shaped pint glass at home on 14th Jan 14.
Looked good, a full but thin covering on top of a ruby/mahogany body, clear and bright.
Very fruity nose with a sweet front.
The taste is also sweet and fruity, with some chocolate notes in the flavours too. The malts rule this beer from start to finish with the hops hidden below the surface keeping the sweetness in check.
Good body depth and a thoroughly enjoyable brew.

Well, it might only nudge the mid 20s in The Midlands tomorrow. Bottle from Rhythm N’ Booze, Cleethorpes- where else? Pillow soft russet capped with beige. Snout chilled molasses and aniseed. Soft Allsorts character with a swirl of Cointreau deep below the surface. Average, brown and slightly sticky. Pleasant.

Cask at the Assembly Rooms, Solihull. Poured a clear dark reddish brown with a thick tan head and broken lace. The aroma is malty and a little alcoholic. The flavour is uber malty too. It’s like an alcoholic Ovaltine. You could almost chew this beer! The malty flavour is complimented by some nice hoppy bitterness on the palate and in the aftertaste. It’s a lovely rich, thick and very satisfying ale.

Cask @ The Victoria Station ’spooooons. Nice to see a rarity from East Yorkshire on cask! The pour’s deep amber with a tiny white head. The nose is sweet berry jam, some toasted pumpernickel bread, light aromatic hop aromas. The taste is more strawberry jam. Sweet malty flavors - caramel, some harvest berry. Notes of brown bread. The finish has accents of allspice, cinnamon. Light body, slightly watery. Overall, just OK. This beer lacks personality.
