DuffMan (1939), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 16, 2008 Probably the standout offering in Great Northern’s lineup. All in all not a bad schwarz, roasted malt character, dry finish. Skyview (2850), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 18, 2007 On draught at the brewpub in Whitefish, Montana. Pours a near opaque dark brown brew with a thin off-white head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and good lacing. Aroma of dark roasted chocolate malt, some almonds, and a touch of coffee. Taste is smooth, creamy, full bodied with a smokey dark malt falvor. Finish is smooth, creamy following by a thin flowery hop bitter aftertaste. JK (2401), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jul 10, 2007 Surprisingly good. There is a light malt aroma, but flavor has surprisingly smoke. Not much else to say about about it; medium body. Simple but solid. Retro42 (18), St Paul, Minnesota, USA Jul 1, 2007 Shared by Skyview. Aroma was very light of chocolate. The dark, almost black color with a thin white head. Tasted of malts and with a faint smoked touch as well. A touch watery and thin on the palate, but not bad. badgerben (3074), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 29, 2007 Another haul from Skyview. Black color with a thin head. Aroma of slightly burnt roasts with some coffee. Bitter chocolate taste and heavy roast. Very nice.
