JPDIPSO (4286), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jun 27, 2004 To start with the aside... I like the name. Lightly hazed straw color with a tall white head. Light malt and mild orange aroma. Aroma has hints of being a wit without the spice. Sourdough bread with a touch of orange marmalade. Fairly acidic, yet does not seem to quench. Light fruity quality. Tastes more like a wheat ale, even though the bottle indicates wheat lager. I keep trying, but I am not a big fan of the american wheats. Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates May 14, 2007 Draft 6 oz’er at the taproom. Hazy but bright yellow and well laced. Vaguely gristy aroma. Lightly grainy and a tad bit of lemon-drop-iness, leave an odd scratchy feeling of residue on the tongue. No real esthers. An OK wheat, in the American vein. (#2864, 5/12/2007) Skyview (2901), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 18, 2007 On draught at the brewpub in Whitefish, Montana. Pours a cloudy golden yellow brew with an average white head that slowly dissolves to a good lacing and white ring. Aroma is very little. Just a hint of citrus zest and some light breakfast cereal malt. Taste is light bodied, lightly carbonated with some citrus peel and a dry baking soda flavor. Lacking any yeast or banana character. Finish is light, clean and slightly dry. Could use some more yeast to be considered a hefeweizen. The_Beer_God (2856), Newport News, Virginia, USA Nov 29, 2004 Bottle. Clouded gold. Small white head. Nose is unique. Wheat and grains, citrus, yeast and fruit and a pleasant malt sweetness. That taste is not as good. Seems overdone with citrus. Wheat and yeast are there and the malt is mild. Body is tart and lemony. A bit thin at points as well. Almost like lemonade. Finishes with more lemon, wheat and yeast. Slight tartness as well. Not too bad but suffering due to the citrus. Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA May 10, 2004 The beer after disassociating itself from the 12 ounce brown bottle sits in the glass a somewhat hazy gold color, the head is smallish and bright white with the lace a thin sheet to obscure the glass. Nose is crisp and clean, sweet malt and nice id somewhat sweet start with a fair to middling grain presence. Top is light to moderate in its feel to the palate, finish is stern in its acidity, the hops are modest but present with a very dry aftertaste that lingers long on the palate, a drinkable beer, good on a hot summer day as it won’t overload your palate or your stomach.
