COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In honor of the huckleberries that grow wild throughout the Flathead Valley, we unveiled this summer brew in the spring of 1996. A combination of 75% Western pale malted barley, 25% malted wheat, Cascade hops and wild huckleberry juice from the Flathead Valley, were used to create this highly drinkable, thirst-quenching lager. A delightfully unique fruit beer, this pale summer brew combines the crisp, dry refreshment of a light lager with a subtle, tart hint of huckleberries that is neither sweet nor overpowering.

12 oz bottle. Berries and wheat aroma. Cloudy, pale yellow in appearance. Medium head which disspiates, leaving a thin collar of foam. Berries and wheat flavor. Good...makes me wonder, whatever happened to Black Star?!?!!

Pale, cloudy yellow, with stream of thick bubbles feeding a weak head. Huckleberry pierces through the wafting wheaty notes. Mellow berry flavor. With mild tart sour wheat to balance the sweetness. A respectable, lightly flavorful, fruit beer.

I love the fresh huckleberry aroma that pours off of this beer! Pours a cloudy strawish yellow. Nice fruit/beer ratio, nearly perfect and I have always thought that huckleberries are just about the best fruit that can be paired with a wheat beer.

Lively carbonation -- fizzy and palate cleansing. Malts were dry, grainy and bready. Huckleberry flavors and aromas swarmed from start to finish, yet they weren’t too sweet or overbearing. Mild bitterness helped to balance things out. Pretty refreshing beer.

This poured a yellow/orange color that was murky with a nice white head that dissipated rather quickly. The aroma and flavor are both dominated by the fruitiness of the huckleberry juice. Very smooth and thirst quenching. Nothing spectacular, nor offensive.

Slightly hazy pale straw yellow. Faint berry essence, a little vanilla, grainy pale malt, crisp finish. A nicely balanced fruit beer that doesn’t kill itself with artificial traits.

On draught at the brewpub in Whitefish, Montana. Pours a light semi-hazed golden pale brew with a thin white head that quicjly dissipates to a fine film and good lacing. Aroma of sweet huckleberries, light flour bread malt and soft flowery hops. The berry scent is the strongest of all others. Taste is lightly carbonated, light bodied, with a good balance of malt and berry flavors. Finish is light, smooth with a lingering berry aftertaste.

Draft 6 oz’er at the taproom. Light golden with zero head. Wow, this presents a real big berry aroma. The flavors go more to the blackberry candy realm, so much so that this reminds me of Crunchberries. Decent for the fruit lovers. (#2865, 5/12/2007)

This nameless mystery bottle (there is NO label) came to me at my local liqour store’s "bottle bin" section. I assume this is the Huckleberry from the obvious berry and hefe aroma. Nice looking cloudy pour and fruity flavors. A bit to sweet and not as tart as I would have liked to see. Not bad for a buck ten a bottle.
