COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In honor of the huckleberries that grow wild throughout the Flathead Valley, we unveiled this summer brew in the spring of 1996. A combination of 75% Western pale malted barley, 25% malted wheat, Cascade hops and wild huckleberry juice from the Flathead Valley, were used to create this highly drinkable, thirst-quenching lager. A delightfully unique fruit beer, this pale summer brew combines the crisp, dry refreshment of a light lager with a subtle, tart hint of huckleberries that is neither sweet nor overpowering.

This nameless mystery bottle (there is NO label) came to me at my local liqour storeís "bottle bin" section. I assume this is the Huckleberry from the obvious berry and hefe aroma. Nice looking cloudy pour and fruity flavors. A bit to sweet and not as tart as I would have liked to see. Not bad for a buck ten a bottle.

Pours a hazy golden brownish color. Aromas of mild berries, wheat bread, and a touch of hops. Flavor is a nice balance of soft fruit flavor with malts and a crisp dry finish. Iím not big on fruit beers, but this one has a subdued flavor, not over the top.

I love Huckleberries. So for me to give anything a low score with Huckleberries this beer must have missed the boat. The aroma was great but then this beer missed the huckleberry boat. There are much better huckleberry beers out there. Need to go to Idaho for these.

Golden colored with a nice sized white head that left some decent lacing. I assume that the berries I smelled were the huckleberries as I have never had one before. There was also some honey and yeasty wheat in the aroma too. A huckleberry taste along with yeassty notes. Also a watery taste that was a bit unpleasant. Very thin in the mouth. Nothing to special here, but it was neat to have a huckleberry beer.

Bottle. Clouded gold body with a small white head. Nose is wheaty and fruity. Some mild tartness to this. Taste is more fruit than wheat with some light sweet notes intermingled with the huckleberry tartness. Itís mild and even a dbit refreshing. Medium bodied. Finishes with Tart fruit notes, light wheat and mild sweetness. Not too bad.

Chemical-like huckleberry aroma. Slightly cloudy pale yellow. I hope these are huckleberry seeds because they look like sperm. Initial baking soda quality. Very tart finish. Maybe not as bad as this rating sounds but not a combination I would continue brewing. #700.

What do huckleberries smell like? I donít really know but when theyíre combined with beer the result is an abomination. A sickly sweet rubber aroma. Pours a golden yellow, thin head. Sweet flavour, finish is quite sour. I guess it would be refreshing - if you just spent 3 weeks in Montana without water.

Big thanks to Slkwily again for this one. Iím one that always appreciates a light fruitiness in a wheat, and this was nice. Cloudy gold with a head that dissapated rapidly. Aroma was my only complaint; something "off" I couldnít identify. Anyway, flavor was nice with a bit of tartness to the end.

Cloudy straw color with a modest (soft peak egg white) head. Fruity aromas dominate - I assume huckleberries (not being learned in huckleberries). I detect the aromas of blackberries with only a hint of wheat. OK... huckleberry flavors (again, tastes like blackberries). Nice light undertones of malt and a mild clearing acidity. Actually rather pleasant fruit brew. Light mild fruit linger.
