COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A ruby rich complex ale, which has a subtle combination of all the malts and hops used in our seven regular beers. Brewed to celebrate the 500th brew.

Cask conditioned at Merton Winter Beer Fest 09. Reddish amber with white head. Biscuit aroma leading to a malty, fruity beer, plummy, fleshy fruits but without getting overwhelming. Toffee, caramel malts then dominate with a lingering hop note intermingled. Very enjoyable.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2009 Cask conditioned - handpump Wootton WMC A dark brown coloured beer with a sparse white head. A nice aroma of malt fruit nuts and bread, which follow through to the taste. There is a melange of hops in this but its’ all about the malt. More old than gold! Score 3.6

Cask, gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival 6th and 7th Feb 2009 Pours amber with a slight chill haze, nice white bubbly head tops things off. Initially the combination of malts makes its mark, because there are a lot of sweet chewy malts in there, in fact I even get some smokiness from somewhere at one point. The bitterness is present but its kept in check by the malts, occasional sweet fruitiness shows and I must try this again tomorrow because whilst I get hops they’re not in yer face or as pushy as I expected. This has been a popular beer tonight and I can see why, there’s a lot going on in that glass, it feels quite substantial at times and its a really interesting number, working behind the bar its a shame my notes weren’t more descriptive.
