2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, - OCT 22, 2009
BC takeout from The Malt Shovel, Northampton, drank at home. Audibly fizzing peach murk with a tenacious snowy head. Edgy, yeast-sodden aroma with barnyard dabs, Granny Smiths, pollen, grapefuit, slight vinegar and chocolate. Reminds me of De la Senne (?). Sourish yeasty tang, ash, green apple acidity, whole US hops swamped in yeast and wheat. Aftertaste dry roasted peanuts burnt to ash, carbonation harsh and burning. Unenjoyable ash-sprinkled fizz that fails miserably to capture the quality of GO’s cask output. Couldn’t finish. Crushing.

Cask@Newark Beer Festival 2010. Vibrant bronze beer with a mildly hopped aroma and a gently hopped and roasted flavour. Overall a nice hopped ale.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2007
Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, April 2006. More amber than gold. Dryish with a decent ration of citric hop. Clean and easy drinking, with a fairly light body. If its aiming to be a golden ale it could do with being a little more aromatic. Alternatively, as a strong bitter, maybe its a touch low on impact. Perfectly pleasant though.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Doppelganger (1383) - Dry County, Arkansas, USA - SEP 19, 2007
Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd. Warm copper, small layer of white. A low volume aroma, but what’s there makes me think of rust and dry leather, a touch of minty hops. A sip: light bodied and refreshing, menthol flavor with a certain metallic undertone. Pleasantly crisp. Off-putting aroma detracts from an otherwise fairly solid pint.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 14, 2007
Cask at Wetherspoons, Milton Keynes. A bit chilly. Slightly hazy golden brown with a white head. Sweet fruity aroma, followed by a massively fruity taste - blackcurrants, I thought. Decent bitter finish. When it warmed this was a thoroughly good pint.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 StueyD (666) - Heacham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2007
A mid to dark, amber orange coloured beer with a thickish white head. A light malty nose, with a slightly sour fruit aroma. A full bodied mouthfeel, rich, slightly spicy malt taste, then a sour fruity flavour that gives the finish a slightly citrusy, pineapple, yet smooth, taste. (Cask - The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).

Cask, Leicester Fest 06. Golden brown with a bubbly head. Aromas are sweet caramel and candy. Quite floral with hints of ginger and mellow lemon. Flavours are sweet, fruity lemon with sweet caramel malts. Syrupy and sticky but not cloyingly so. Decent.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Mungo (2472) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2006
Gravity cask @ Reading Beer Festival 2006. Some citric hops. Easy going sweet malty caramel gets along failry well with the hop.
