COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottle Conditioned; Regular. Previously known as Orme’s Best.
A mouthwatering cask conditioned ale based on a traditional blend of fine British pale ale malt with a subtle addition of crystal, chocolate and black malts to give this prince of beers real character. The delicate addition of Challenger and Goldings hops at critical times of the boil add to the mellow complexity of this beer.

Gravity cask @ Reading Beer Festival 2006. Malty sweet start with bittersweet crystal and a medium hoppy finish to keep it drinkable.

Clear cola like body, very small white head. Aroma of kvass, malty berries. Flavour has remarkable bitterness, caramel, sugar, metal and berries.

Tasted this impressive bitter at the Troon Beer Festival in October 2011. Cask, gravity dispense. Clear copper red in colour with no head. Superb malty aroma laden with hedgerow fruits and earthy notes. Robust mouthfeel and no lacing. Powerful pale malt component gives a moist maltloaf base full of plump raisin fruit and yellow plums. Golden syrup and barley sugar add to the mature malt flavours. There is a slight nod to hop resins in the brief aftertaste but this is very hard to detect as the malt really dominates. Finish is fiery malt and very robust with strong fruit notes of rum and raisins coming through. An excellent session bitter that punches far above its weight. Reminded me of Ballards Wassail. Highly recommended.
