A Mes rate: Gravicask at Ealing Beer Festival. Clear dark brown with a good off white head. Good roasted malt aroma with hints of fruit and a slight smokyness. A lovely sugary note in the flavour with some excellent roasty malt, really nice chocolate, slight liquorice and a good fruity chocolate finish. Quite dry. Rather tasty.

Bottle. Pours jet black with a very thin beige coloured head. Aromas a not huge but as expected there is some raosted grain and a little espresso coffee. Flavours are much the same with some raosted grain bitterness. Slightly sour finish. Thinnish mouthfeel as expected. Not too bad.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 hawthorne00 (1439) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 22, 2011
3.7% ABV bottle, 12C. Black with a coat of light tan head. Aroma of toffee, chocolate, coffee, hints of dark fruit. Smooth oaty mouthfeel with little carbonation. Thinnish but not watery. Tastes like it smells, maybe some stewed dark fruit too. No astringency associated with the coffee, but a gentle dry roasted malt finish. Worked surprisingly well in the bottle.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 greenmanalishi (424) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2011
A tasty mild with dry roastiness and latte flavourings. Nicely balanced and good palate, where some milds can be disappointingly thin.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Gary (1093) - London and(Rochester), Kent, ENGLAND - JAN 2, 2011
(bottle conditioned) A cappuccion beige head rests for like only 15 seconds above a blackness that’s almost violet.. nose is roasty ,smokey malts ..milk chocolate ; in the mouth the beer is pretty oily ,roasty and with an abundance of chocolate . A long roasty dry bitterness . The body is a bit thin , if this beer was more beefy -the texture would be spot on , lacks some base to compliment a good flavour range.
