3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Can. Murky reddish brown pour with a beige head. Aroma is steamed veggies and a bit of toffee. Similar taste but I kinda dig the taste, whereas the aroma isn’t all that good. Decent bit of heft to the body.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Canned. Dark red-brown with a smallish white head. There is a small amount of suspended particulates floating throughout, though most quickly settle to the bottom of the glass. Mild malt nose with some black pepper, cola, and mild vegetable soup. Vegetal notes follow through into the flavor with clove and black peppery spiciness, very mild smoke and mild-to-moderate caramels. Watery palate underneath some prickly carbonation. Just not very good. I’m a huge M*A*S*H fan, so I got the reference the first time I visited the Great River brewery and saw the signage on the wall. I really wanted to like this. If they changed to cans to be M*A*S*H or Army themed I’d buy one more just for the can, but I sadly wouldn’t buy again for the beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Truth be told this brewery is a stones throw away from my house and it has a special place in my heart. I had this beer in its first batch and enjoyed watching it grow along with the brewery.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark,clear reddish mahogony.Short head,spitty lacing. Tallboy can.
Aroma is vanilla/caramel,maybe yeastie with buttery diacytal.Seems to have a pretty fine good distinct character to its aroma.Kinda earthy or woody/oak/even dark berry.
The taste is an intensified aroma, everything you get from that comes in it flavor plus more. Caramel, orange, berry, chocolate, some kind of nuttyness.Citrus on the end that lingers.A good caramel sweetness in body. Ive only had this style ocassionally but I would not know a true bock/from something that wasnt like a bock but I do know otherwise that this is a pretty tastey beer and Im glad to have 3 more to have eventually. Another consistenly good beer from Great River.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
tapped today at the brewery. cola colored, clear, and lightly carbonated. head was thin and beige. Aroma was lightly toasty and a little earthy. Flavor showed a bit of raisin, a little grassy with some bitterness in the finish. Little thin, but not too shabby.
