Festival of Iowa Beers 2009. Pours an amber brown without much head. The aroma is a little garbage with some coffee. Flavor is coffee with some roastiness and some nice hoppiness, overall the beer is dry and very nice tasting.

Roasted malts, coffee and grains in aroma. The flavor is coffee, malts and a mild acidity/fruitiness in finish. Almost like a Coffee Brown Ale, pretty good.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 nbondi (182) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 26, 2011
Very dark espresso brown with very little head. Meager roasty nose of dark malt, some nuttiness, and a touch of smoke. Medium body, good carbonation. Somewhat thin flavors. Darker and more roasty than most of this style lacks the sweetness found in most browns. Dry, like a schwartzbier or smoke beer. Decent, but maybe not a good fit for "brown."

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2012 On tap at the rodeo. Very dark brown probably black some head, nice palate medium full bodied with chocolate roast coffee smooth, lots of carmel and a fairly sweet brown ale with a pretty good balance of bittering.very good brown for the fewdozen ive tried but its better than most browns it seems.Pretty malty but nice hop balance with good chocolate and mild coffee notesVery dark for a brown but very tastey
For an organic beer this is one of the best and if not only browns ive enjoyed, if you like brown ales this is really worth checking out.
Re rate in a can non organic farmer brown- coffe roast malt, some yeastyness/fruitiness almost bannana even clove maybe, walnuts, chocolate. starting full but finishing medium bodied and dry with coffee choc and roast ,coffee roast but sorta smooth with acidity nuttyness shows as it warms and fruit towards the end with a light bittering with citrus tones lingering roast/chocolate.liked it better on tap, still good a little more fruity/yeast than on tap.

Draft sampler at the tap room. Solid dark chocolate bar color. Just a hint of brown malt, though, in my nose (my schnozz is fighting the sniffles and not cooperating with me in sensory analysis). Deep. deep roast malt, almost in porter-stout territory. A little coffee, then root beer right afterward. Quite easy drinking and flavorful, and that’s saying a lot for some of the organic beers I’ve tried.

On tap at the Davenport brewery. Dark, dark brown. Loads of coffee and bittersweet cocoa in the nose. An extremely roasty brown ale, mild-to-moderately sweet with lightly bitter roasted coffee bean finish. I actually found this to be very nice.
