After pouring this dark golden IPA into my merlot glass to observe its interesting features, I noted the strong aroma of a grapefruit type of hops and swirling unique malt characters I noted later in the taste. The first taste was a vocabulary lesson in hops and as I slowly tasted more of it, the spicy taste seemed to change its personality to illicit more fruity esters which I would usually attribute to heavier double IPA names.
Like a circus bear riding a small bicycle, the Massive IPA packed a large taste that did various tricks as its slowly warmed up in my glass. I was impressed with its volume and weight as I thought it paired well with sharp cheddar cheese and would make a good beer to tailgate with in the company of good friends.

Long Island, NY - 12 oz. bottle poured a clear dirty blonde with a moderate amount of white head with mild lacing. Aroma was mildly citrus and more malt. Aroma is deceiving because taste is right on point, citrus, hops, IBU goodness. Long Island craft beer all the way!

32oz growler from Shoreline Beverage. Pours a clear orange with some thin white head. Nose is standard, orange, pine, soap, malt, honey. Flavor is very bitter, orange peel, grapefruit peel, slightly metallic, a little birch. Bitter finish. Run of the mill.

On tap. Just an average IPA for me. Mostly piney hop profile with significant caramel malt backbone.

I have been drinking this beer for a few years now and it has only gotten better, it is a great example of an IPA done right. Lots of Pine, resin, grapefruit, citrus. But even with all of these hops you still get a nice malt backbone. If you like this then look for itís bigger brother, Hopocratic.

Approximately 2 ounce sample at the Brewery tasting room in Bay Shore, New York. The pour is a slightly hazy orange golden. The aroma is dry grassy resin, with light honey and some nice pine all balanced against caramel malt. Fresh nose. The taste follows the nose, nice fresh hops (grass, resin, light honey, pine) balanced against a clean caramel toast malt. The palate is medium bodied, clean dry finish. Of the beers I sampled here, I liked this and the Saison the best.

Draft. Pours golden amber with an off white head. Big piney hop aroma with grapefruit and sweet malts. The flavor has floral and piney hops, some nice bitterness, and light sweet malts. Pretty good.

Tap - Hazy golden pour with thin white head. Massive pine and sticky caramel malts. Some old shoe leather at the end, but still has a really nice hop profile and an expert graininess. Soft bodied and freshtastic.
