April 5, 2012: Remember back to the first time you ventured across the Great South Bay via the Robert Moses Causeway on your way to the beach? Well, we’ve captured that feeling in our Robert Moses Pale Ale! This well-balanced, sessionable American-style pale ale will keep you refreshed all year round. Whether you’re fishing on your boat, sitting around a campfire, or relaxing in your back yard, the fresh aroma of American hops paired with the crisp taste of the pale malts will bring you back every time. We’ve taken the Robert Moses Pale Ale that you’ve come to enjoy and took it to the next level with the addition of blood oranges to give it a slightly more citrus character with just the right amount of bitterness you’d expect from an American-style pale ale.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of oranges, pale and caramel malts, light hops, and some dough. Flavor the same with a nice blend. Average texture. A decent pale ale but sort of just tastes like orange juice and malts.

Draught at some random restaurant/bar in Tarrytown (on Main St, can’t remember the name) on 12/28/15
Clear, large-bubbled liquid is a bright tangerine color with a small, off-white head that recedes quickly to a ring.
Light citrus in the nose dosent really say blood orange or hops. Could be either, though I guess there is a slightly more distinctive orange fruit note (softer, more lightly sugary than the hops would suggest). Clean with very little in the way of malt and no alcohol noted.
Wet, lightly watery and medium-light to light bodied, the beer nonetheless has a true enough orange fruit flavor and it’s not overdone. Unfortunately, the rest of the beer is a bit drab, showing off grainy, hard malts and just a touch of honey-like sweetness. Light hop bitterness and citric acid sit on the finish. Not sure a pale ale is the right vessel for a blood orange beer....also this beer needs a longer name.

Bottle. Thanks ModeEngage! Clear orange amber wit ha small off-white head. Aromas of blood orange, orange peel, light toasted malt and caramel. Flavor is orange, light toasted malt and pine. Light plus body, crisp with light carbonation.

Aroma of orange and a malty base. Not a bad aroma. Taste is malt base with a bitter dry almost medicinal aftertaste. Finish and aftertaste are not very good. Get some orange in the taste as well but just a moderate amount. Medicinal finish really detracts from this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from cousin, drank from bottle. Aroma is serious orange, citrus. Taste is light, orange, serious orange. Nice beer, just all fruit, no pale ale resemblance.

On tap. Aroma of oranges, grapefruit, blood orange (surprise surprise). Flavor is mildly hoppy, orange, maltiness in the middle of the mouth. Slightly hoppy finish. Not bad.

Bottle pour. Clear yellow-gold in glass. Nose is hard orange candies and not a lot else. Taste has some blood oranges and some sweet biscuit malts. Light body. Sweet throughout. Juicy. Not for me.

On draft at Bill’s Bar and Burger, downtown, NYC. The blood orange flavor is unique and refreshing, without overpowering. Supporting an otherwise pedestrian pale ale.

Citrus hops nose. Clear copper/orange color. Minimal head lacing. First impression is a well balanced pale ale with cascade hops dominating. The finish leaves something to be desired leaving the taste of a very* bitter orange peel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to Bill! Pours crystal clear golden amber with a small off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly with some lacing. Aroma is honey, grain, grass, a bit of orange. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, tons of orange and orange zest in the flavor. Light body, medium carbonation. A bit harsh with the zesty bitterness.
