April 5, 2012: Remember back to the first time you ventured across the Great South Bay via the Robert Moses Causeway on your way to the beach? Well, we’ve captured that feeling in our Robert Moses Pale Ale! This well-balanced, sessionable American-style pale ale will keep you refreshed all year round. Whether you’re fishing on your boat, sitting around a campfire, or relaxing in your back yard, the fresh aroma of American hops paired with the crisp taste of the pale malts will bring you back every time. We’ve taken the Robert Moses Pale Ale that you’ve come to enjoy and took it to the next level with the addition of blood oranges to give it a slightly more citrus character with just the right amount of bitterness you’d expect from an American-style pale ale.

Well done. Nice and subtle in the hops as blood orange should be. Not too sweet, not too bitter. A little bready in the malt and light bodied so it goes down like fruit juice.

Aroma just like an orange cream-cicle. Very light head. Light pale taste and heavy on sweet blood orange. A good dessert beer. Tap.

Can’t believe this is rated so low. It’s a pale ale with blood orange and tastes and smells like what it should. I liked it.

Bottle, as "Great south bay blood orange pale ale",small bubbly head, cloudy orange color, aroma of citrus and orange blossom, flavor of citrus and herrbs, medium herbal bitterness and just a malty hint in back. Highly drinkable and great fun.

Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Soft orange on the nose, wheat and light citrus. Medium bodied, orange and citrus. Gentle orange lingers on the finish, wheat and musk.

12 oz bottle. Pours amber with a small, short lived, white head. Nose is of orange soda. Body is medium and crisp. Oranges, citrusy hops and bready malt combine on the palate. Finish is long, orangey. Too much of orange taste in this brew.

Got in a BIF from berloserLI. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big blood orange, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, cracker, bread, light honey, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity citrus hops, blood orange, and moderate pale malt flavors; with good strength. Taste of blood orange, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, cracker, bread, light honey, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of pine/citrus peel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of blood orange, grapefruit, lemon/orange peel, pine, cracker, bread, light honey, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of citrus/pine hops, blood orange, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly sticky, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice fruited pale ale style. All around good balance, complexity, and robustness of citrus/pine hops, blood orange, and moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of oranges, pale and caramel malts, light hops, and some dough. Flavor the same with a nice blend. Average texture. A decent pale ale but sort of just tastes like orange juice and malts.

Draught at some random restaurant/bar in Tarrytown (on Main St, can’t remember the name) on 12/28/15
Clear, large-bubbled liquid is a bright tangerine color with a small, off-white head that recedes quickly to a ring.
Light citrus in the nose dosent really say blood orange or hops. Could be either, though I guess there is a slightly more distinctive orange fruit note (softer, more lightly sugary than the hops would suggest). Clean with very little in the way of malt and no alcohol noted.
Wet, lightly watery and medium-light to light bodied, the beer nonetheless has a true enough orange fruit flavor and it’s not overdone. Unfortunately, the rest of the beer is a bit drab, showing off grainy, hard malts and just a touch of honey-like sweetness. Light hop bitterness and citric acid sit on the finish. Not sure a pale ale is the right vessel for a blood orange beer....also this beer needs a longer name.
