COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
April 5, 2012: Remember back to the first time you ventured across the Great South Bay via the Robert Moses Causeway on your way to the beach? Well, we’ve captured that feeling in our Robert Moses Pale Ale! This well-balanced, sessionable American-style pale ale will keep you refreshed all year round. Whether you’re fishing on your boat, sitting around a campfire, or relaxing in your back yard, the fresh aroma of American hops paired with the crisp taste of the pale malts will bring you back every time. We’ve taken the Robert Moses Pale Ale that you’ve come to enjoy and took it to the next level with the addition of blood oranges to give it a slightly more citrus character with just the right amount of bitterness you’d expect from an American-style pale ale.

On draft at Bill’s Bar and Burger, downtown, NYC. The blood orange flavor is unique and refreshing, without overpowering. Supporting an otherwise pedestrian pale ale.

Citrus hops nose. Clear copper/orange color. Minimal head lacing. First impression is a well balanced pale ale with cascade hops dominating. The finish leaves something to be desired leaving the taste of a very* bitter orange peel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to Bill! Pours crystal clear golden amber with a small off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly with some lacing. Aroma is honey, grain, grass, a bit of orange. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, tons of orange and orange zest in the flavor. Light body, medium carbonation. A bit harsh with the zesty bitterness.

4oz pour at the brewery. Pours a clear orange with some very thin white head. Nose has a lot of orange peel, some mild key lime too, a hint of sweet malt. Flavor has a lot of orange soda without the carbonation, sweet, citrus, some tangerine too. Watery finish. A bit too sweet, could have used a little more bitterness to round it out.

12 oz. bottle. I just tried this last night for the first time. Having tried Elysian’s Blood Orange, I have to say this one compares poorly against it. Pours a hazy gold with a moderate white head that lasted through the first two sips and leaves very little lace. Not much aroma to speak of at all. The flavor is very mild blood orange along with some weak malt. Very mild hops bitterness at the finish. Light-medium bodied. Disappointing.

On tap at Union Grounds. Interesting idea, the flavors work to am extent, but the body is weak. Balance could be a lot better ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drought. Rich yellow with small foamy white head, orange aroma, bitter orange peel taste, low carbonation, long bitter finish with orange peel flavor. Interesting but not great.

Draught from brew inn in green point. Orangey pour. Creamy with sweet citrus blending too bitter.

Rcvd in trade. The appearance had a mostly clear golden orange/yellow colored body. There is some light carbonation that is seen rising at a moderate pace. The head is about a finger’s worth with adequate foamy lacing clinging fairly to the glass. The aroma has a pretty authentic smelling blood orange with a light hop bitterness to balance it all out. The taste is bitter and a somewhat citrusy maltiness leading to a sweet citrusy sticky aftertaste and finish. The palate is mostly light, somewhat watery, perhaps this could be a better Summer/Spring beer. There’s a nice sessionable aspect to it. Carbonation is fairly subdued not much of a hint of harshness to commandeer the mouth or tongue into submission. Overall, hey, I think I like this one, an APA with a genuine blood orange character to it, I’d have it again and wouldn’t mind having on a nice Summer’s afternoon as there’s also a decent refreshing aspect to it.

Bottle, from the Beer Table Pantry Grand Central, as ’Blood Orange Pale’ split with Yespr on the train to Hostelboro, 28/02/14. Clear golden orange with a moderate off white head. Nose is toasty malts, apricot, bitter orange, straw, light hop notes. Taste comprises caramel, biscuit malt, blood orange, vanilla, straw, bread dough, sweet licks. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for style.
