COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Slightly full bodied rich brown ale. Caramel chocolate maltiness in this satisfying dark ale is a year round favorite.

Sampled via growler pour thanks to Doug H at the 29th Annual ABA Meeting in Bloomington, MN. Pours a semi-clear dark brown colored brew with a thin beige head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of toasted dark malt, some roasted nuts, and floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, burnt and toasted dark Munich malts, a hint of chocolate and floral hops. Finish has a toasty dark malt aftertaste, some bread crust aftertaste that reminds me why I enjoy getting the "heel" portion of the fresh roasted bread at excellent restaurants. Most excellent.

This was tasted on our 3M trip in St paul. The Reddish brown color of the ale was perfect. The ale had coffee notes and some tannic flavors. The ale is rated at 5.8% alcohol, 35 IBU and 15 Plato. I also detected some yeasty notes as well. The waiter at another brewpub was very high on this ale.

On tap @ Great Waters. Very dark red/brown body with a light tan head. Toasty, slightly nutty, somewhat alcoholic brown malty nose. Dark caramel malty flavor that’s slightly alcoholic. A little unbalanced.

On tap at the brewpub on 05/31/2009. Clear very dark brown body with ruby highlights and a large creamy light brown head. Chocolate and light nutty aroma with a bit of molassas. Sweet chocolate flavor some roasty hints with light molassas and a bit of nuttiness. Medium light body with moderately low carbonation. Not sure it’s really a brown ale, but it’s certainly tasty. 7/4/8/4/15 - 3.8 On handpump at the brewpub on 05/31/2009. Clear dark black body with ruby highlights and a medium frothy light brown head. Sweet chocolate aroma, light roast, a smokey hint and some light molassas. Chocolate, roast, and molassas flavor with a bit of light bitter in the finish. Very light body with low carbonation. 7/4/8/5/16 - 4.0

11/11/07 Brewpub: Hands down the best beer they had. This is not a brown though. It’s a porter, but a very good porter, chocolate, roasted malt, coffee. Dark Brown, Full body.

Draft @ Brewpub: Very dark brown, nice head and lacing. Nose of nutty sweet caramel and nutella, chewy sweet raisin and a bit of cocoa and smoke. Licorice and cheddar, nice robust brown ale, I like.

Typical brown ale, although something a bit off in the flavor. Slightly harsh and medicinal. More flavor than some other brown ales. In this case that is not a good thing.
