On tap at the brewpub on 6/23/07: Slightly hazy bright goldenrod with a dense, well-lacing frothy white head. Aroma of lightly sweet wheat with mild peppery clove and a hint of lemon citrus. Body starts fairly full with a light wheaty sweetness and some mild citrus tartness before a thinner, bland, lightly doughy finish. A decent hefeweizen.

Daft @ Brewpub: A very slight haze, light head and lacing. Nose of bright banana and a touch of nutmeg, allspice with the typical sweet wheat notes. The flavor is very sweet and banana-y. Nice hefe (I think).
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 badgerben (4253) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - JUL 30, 2005
Cloudy yellow color with a thin head. Strong aroma and taste of banana, almost to a banana smoothie point, but it’s more of a candied banana than fresh. Think Runts candy. A good dosage of wheat in the middle brings it back to beer reality. An oddly sweet wheat beer that was really pretty tasty, though I’m not sure I would have been able to finish multiples.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2007 July 2005. A great banana aroma. I have never smelled such a strong banana aroma in a hefeweizen before. Citrus and banana flavors. Good, but there just seems to be the smallest thing wrong with it that I can’t quite nail down what it is. Mostly good flavor but thin body.

On tap at the brewpub on 05/31/2009. Cloudy orange body with a small frothy off-white head. Sweet banana and clove aroma. Sweet clove and spice flavor with some banana and a wheat background. Light body with moderate carbonation.

Big banana--too much. Nice appearance. Light carbonation, light hazy yellow. A bit thin at first and then way too thin--it couldn’t sustain my attention, both for palate and flavor. Banana and bubblegum, but not particular delicately. (on tap at brewpub, St. Paul)

Strong Dirty Yellow Coloring with White Skin. Citrus Aroma. Yeasty and Wheat Notes as Well. Initial Citrus and Wheat Hit...Nice Wave of Flavor, Backs Off To Make Room for Yeast and Coriander and Ends Lightly Dry.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 3, 2005
Hazy golden hued, solid cap of foam.
Aroma: big bananas and bubblegum
taste: slim & hollow, threadbare texture, yet juicy.
bottoms out a bit too early, a weakish weizen, doesn’t provide enough pleasure from the glass. Easy to drink and eager to please, but I look for a little more beyond that.
A simple, almost insipid weizen. Nice try, but not quite.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 StewardofGondor (1934) - Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 7, 2006
Semi-hazed and dulled golden-orange in color with a milky white head. Aroma staggers with bananas and freshly cleaved cotton, vanilla buttercream and lilac scented dryer sheets. Well-acclimated souring lemons with a touch of banana cream pie and lime accented marshmallow fluff fulfill the flavor. Eased, mild carbonation lends to a medium-body that eventually presents sharper, buttery sourdough traits. Acidity is only around for a short while, but the alpha acid contribution is a touch too aged, bitter and dry. Takes on some pineapple smoothie traits at the outset.
