On tap @ Great Waters. Red orange appearance with an off white head. Slightly hoppy but mostly a caramel malty nose. Pretty bland caramel
malty flavor. Drinkable but boring.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 BVery (2557) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - APR 9, 2010
Tap. Clear red/amber pour with a small but frothy white head. Aroma is slightly sweet with caramel. Thinner mouthfeel. Taste is a little watery and the hops poke through. Some bread and caramel on taste as well. Just okay.

Dark orange color with a thin head. Dusty malt aroma with a slightly sweet finish. Taste is more of the same, with nothing really standing out. Pinch of a hops finish.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 beermatrix (1497) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - JUL 1, 2003
Named after the owner, O' byrn's Irish Red is a another amber done very well and is cask-conditioned. It reminded me a little of a English Bitter but milder.
Color is a hazy light brown, very small head that retained in small bubbles throughout most of the glass as I was drinking it. Very faint and light on the nose, has a slight aroma of hop and citrusy lemon. Taste is crisp, clean, light, a little watery, no real initial taste up front, but the middle gets a nice little dry hop and finishes with a citrus note and slightly dry. Hint of cinnamon maybe, too. Feels very clean but is watery, could be bolder and more medium bodied. Leaves a light pale citrus feel on the tongue. This could be better, but is pretty good and favored it slightly over the other amber.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jaymobrown (1457) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 5, 2003
Still not a red to rave about. One day will come. Light red colored with some slight, slight hops. But mostly an average unnoticable beer. Nothing offensive, nothing compelling.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 JoeM500 (1894) - Crown Point, Indiana, USA - MAR 4, 2003
Very plain... all too common red ale. Almost tasteless except for some tiny malt flavor. Having it on cask probably saved it from being rated as swill because it was so smooth. This was one of those beers at the Real Ale Festival that were easily forgotten and easily poured into the "dump-tub".

Let me tell you something..When WAWOOD scratches his head..that means something because he has no hair. Anyway, I tasted this red head at St. Paul's Winterfest. The red hair is all she has going for her.

Cask. What the...? Utterly flavorless. Had me scratching my head. Perhaps my impression was clouded by the myriad full-flavored big beers preceding this one at Winterfest in St. Paul, and I know Irish beers can be on the bland side...
