COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The biggest beer we have ever made at Great Waters. Big chocolate and roast flavor, and as thick as the oil slick of the coast of Spain. O.G. 23P

RAF. This was a pretender, not a contender. Almost watery, "thick as the oil slick", my sweet cheeks! No distinguishable aroma. I'm sad that they call this an imperial stout. An odd aftertaste of alcohol...but not in a good way.

On Cask: Served in a brandy goblet- Black, very black, were talking thick, stark opaque, matte black of deeper then deep, holy sh*t thats black! Nice fluffy tan head just over a finger high that takes for ever and a day to settle and at first there is a small amount of slow bubbling current about an inch below the head that creates a weird lavalamp-like motion for a good amount of time then finely just goes black like the rest of its girth. Loved looking at this thing. I could get lost in its blanktivity for hours. Smell is potently alcoholic, very whisky-like with some brandy hints, takes a bit to get through and reach some sweet molasses, maple syrup, cherry, and chocolate. Taste is quite smooth with the alcohol touching every corner in warming qualities giving mild flavors in some dark roastyness, lightly sweet chocolate and deep sweet cherry that lends some heavyness, touching in molasses and coffee. Not all that bold or rich as most Imp. Stouts that I've had. The feel is why it suffers some in the taste cuz its fluffy and airy with a medium body and not so hefty or thick as most. A fine drinker, but the alcohol makes its presense felt to much in alot of its character where it needs to be hidden more and sneaky.

Cask at the RAF 2003: Large roasted coffee bean aroma, black with a nice tan head. . . Looks like an imperial stout. . Very dry on the palate, a good raosted flavour, slightly creamy. . . But I found no mouth feel or flavour qualities of an Imperial Stout. . . just a easy going stout here.

Thick? No. Creamy texture with nothing really speaking to me. Some hints of smokes and roasted. Not the biggest of imperial stouts, but not all of them can be.

They spoiled a great name for an Imperial Stout. It was so watery and thin... so boringly predictable that the name should taken away. This is no Imperial Stout. No complexity, No big mix of flavors. Thick as the oil slick???? Maybe the brewers never heard of Worldwide, Expedition, or Dark Lord!!!

cask (RAF): Peter the Great..wasnt great..not at all in fact..it was dark and it had a tan head, but i think thats as imperial as this beer is gonna get..the aroma was very roasty with coffee notes and hints of sweat..but IMO, imperial stouts should not have an overly roasty aroma..leave that for the low gravity crap..the flavor here had some chocolate but more dominant was its peanut skin astringency and its wierd-ass bitterness that completely took my mind from what might have been subtle notes of dark fruits, chocolate, and raisin..NExt.

This was another thin and boring IS at the RAF. Light in color and mouthfeel. The flavor is strong, but only in the roasted characteristics. Where are all the vinuous notes in Expedition and Dark Lord? The flavor is good, but one dimensional.

Sweet, dark chocolate aroma, with strong alcohol presence and hints of smoked oak. Very flavorful; the strong alcohol comes through in the finish. A strong Imperial Stout.
