COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep red in color and a healthy body, this Scotch ale has a touch of sweetness paired with a bit of smokiness from the 2% of Weyerman’s smoked malt used. The sweetness hides the slightly higher alcohol content of this ale.

Cask sample. Dark, dark whiskeyish look. Looked-for peaty, earthy, meaty nose was there; earthy caramel-port-whiskey flavors quite intriguing; chewy texture balanced by a velvety quality that is almost, but not quite TOO smooth. Rich and juicy, excellent.

Dark Brown Coloring. Big Head. After drinking the other varieties...this one settled in the stomach much firmer. Chocolate. Malt. Wierd flavor in there....but smooth and very good.

Cask. Dark brown but almost ruby color. Nice, large, foamy head. A little chocolate and wood in the nose. Flavor is very good: chocolate, malt, slightly sweet. I swore I could taste a berry (raspberry?), but my drinking colleague could not place it either. Very smooth and flavorful.

On cask: Dark brown color with a substantially large head produced from that wondeful cask pull that sticks around the entire glass, lacing in super sticking webby sheets. Aroma is soft of chocolate roast and a bit of melon-like sweetness. Taste has a nice calming melon sweet front dusted with chocolate, midway turns to more of a slightly roastier tone within the chocolate, great subtle turns within the chocolate throughout. Soft, supple, yet giving malt base. Stable finish thats quickly resolved and eagers you to take more in as the flavors continue to intrigue sip after sip. Solid feel, on cask this comes across much cleaner with a nicer creamyness then most of the casks I've had at GW over the years. Very smooth, clean, and quaffable!
