COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A toasty red colored ale. Medium bodied ale with just enough hops to balance the malt character. More malt flavor and hops aroma than say a Killian’s, this is an easy drinking carnival beer. O.G. 12.5P, 25 IBU’S, 5.2% ABV

On-tap at the brewpub: Dullish fiery browned copper color. Small cap of smooth, soft, light browned foam. Some spotty lacing here and there. Aroma is dullishly sweet with malt. Sense a bit of red apple and red licorice in that sweetness mixing with a slight dryish German-like hop. Taste is very well rounded and smooth with a moderate flavoring in a malt faction bringing a slight bready sweetness. Tends to bring a dullish red apple and duller honey flavor with a slight pull along a pale wheat malt backing. More or less, a more fruitier, sweeter rendition of the style then most. Kinda like a scaled down Dubbel. Very nice feel in a solidly smooth and hefty medium body with the perfect carbonation for what it is. Well rounded and nearly perfect for a what seems to be a simple malty Red. But there’s a bit of complexitiy to this one, both in flavor and texture that really tugs at the palate and the taste buds to induce more sipping and/or gulping. I prefered the second; gulping. Which will be had it many returns with this lovely Red Ale. Damn fine stuff. So sad I waitied til it was nearly gone to try it. Hopefully it will make a visit again sometime soon to the rotation.

Copper Coloring with Sandy Head. Sweet Caramel Notes on the Nose and Tongue. Light Pepper/Spice Notes...Making for a Bitter and Light Dry Mouthfeel and Aftertaste.. The More Sampled, the More the Pepper Flavoring Comes Out....and Much Easier to Detect the Pepper in Firehouse Ale After Sampling This One. Firehouse Being the Basic Cask Version of This Ale.

Dark copper color with a thin head. Nice aroma of caramel. Solid malt taste that finishes dry. A little spice on the finish, more heat than winter mulling, maybe a bit of cayenne pepper.

Whoo! This was tasty red! With the name Vulcan in the title , i was a little worried, as the ol vulcans have had a rocky couple of years, but this beer was great. Kinda cloudy for a red beer, but certainly had a nice bite and a true red taste to it. Only available for another week or so they told me.....
