(Bottle) Pours clear, reddish brown to deep mahogany with a small sand colored head. The aroma is malty up front with a deep toasted, light caramelly and white bready sting. In addition, a mild roasted chocolate tone is also notable. Hints of brown sugar, vanilla, oven baked cinnamon apples, ripe tangerines, floral hops and dark, dried fruits/raisins. The flavour is solid malty with notes of toast, light caramel, bread and a light roastiness. Some noble, floral hops lurking in the background. Tiny acidic. Maybe a touch of tangerines in the flavour as well. The mouthfeel is round, juicy and smooth with soft and creamy carbonation. Medium bodied. The finish is of bready malt and a clean, fruity/vegetable-ish touch. Near medium bodied.

Bottle from my father. Fruity smell, like dried raspberries. Similar taste, fruity with some cereal and some malt sweetness. Fairly light body, I would have preferred it a bit thicker. Decent beer, but it lacks something.

A little thin. I was too drunk when I had this beer. Pretty rare though.

Gr0ve (2113) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 17, 2009
500 ml bottle. Mahogany with a ruby red hue. Medium-sized light beige fine-laced head that clings to the glass. Nutty aroma with a lot of chocolate. Very mellow aroma. Licorice flavours. Bready ye flavours, much reminiscent of kvass. Distinct hop bitterness that feels sharp and metallic initially, but blends into the soft flavours. A little watery in the finish. Interesting Christmas beer, and quite unlike any other I’ve had. In all it reminds of a kvass.
