Gr0ve (2157) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 17, 2009
500 ml bottle. Mahogany with a ruby red hue. Medium-sized light beige fine-laced head that clings to the glass. Nutty aroma with a lot of chocolate. Very mellow aroma. Licorice flavours. Bready ye flavours, much reminiscent of kvass. Distinct hop bitterness that feels sharp and metallic initially, but blends into the soft flavours. A little watery in the finish. Interesting Christmas beer, and quite unlike any other I’ve had. In all it reminds of a kvass.

Malty, lightly roasted taste, toffee, hops, diacetyl, candied sugar, faint notes of coffee. Someone please change the label, they haven’t used that one for years. (2011-12-24)

djoeye (1855) - Tromsø, NORWAY - NOV 21, 2014
Mahogany to dark ruby clear body (too dark for being mentioned as amber) with fawn top on. Lacing only in lower half of the mug, wide carpet. Pours give clear body, even the last one. Scents of spices, cardamom, syrupy candies, apple peels, dark fruits, succade, leaves, caramel malts. Tastes brown caramel malts, hops, citrus aurantium, yellow apple peels, sweet brown bread, faint cardamom, fruity syrupy grassy notes, unnamed sweet spices, and even cocoa notes in aftertaste. Mild on palate, average body, soft carbonation. Yes, this was a nice brew. [50cl brown bottle, abv5.2%, B@Systembolaget Kiruna, 2€50c, BB3/16, T@höme]

Bottle traded with Cunningham. Aroma of caramel and cereal, with faint notes of hops and licorice thrown in. Rather dry, light tart taste. Caramelly flavour, ending in a light, somewhat earthy bitterness. An ok dunkel, but not too exciting.

LoFi (1595) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUL 21, 2011
Bottle as Carnegie Kaj Julöl, at julbord, from notes obviously. Amber with an off-white head. Sweet malt, caramel, fruit, some nuts. Nice paired with most dishes on the Christmas table.
