Aroma: A malt explosion, grain, molasses, porridge, bread. Some syrup and caramelized apples.
Appearance: A clear chestnut beer, an off-white low head that leaves some lacing, good curtains.
Taste: Starting with brown bread, honey and porridge, apple marmalade and some orange peel.
Palate: Medium low carbonation, small bubbles, a soft and oily texture. A good body with a slightly dry finish.
Overall: This year very balanced and good.
Note: Bottle 330 ml. (Vintage 2013) Reviewed 2013-05-06.

Leighton (9883) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 13, 2013
Bottle at the ChrisO Holiday Tasting, London - thanks to Ronny. Pours clear, red-brown with a small, foamy head. Sugary, wet brown bread aroma. Medium sweet flavor with more brown bread, light earth and spice. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light to medium sweet finish, lots of lightly toasted bready malts, toasty sugars. OK.

Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Ronny, 30/12/12. Hazed dark amber with a thin tan head that soon clears edgeward. Nose carries dark fruit, malt, bread, rye, sugars - super strength kvass notes :). Taste follows, lighter on sugars, toffee and dark malts at the fore. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, sweet finish with some bitterness. Average.

ClubGonzo (3533) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 14, 2012
Bottle from Systembolaget in Torp, Uddevalla. Pours a clear coppery body with a small white head. Aroma is mild caramel tones, hints of toffee and basement must - why do I get this in so many Swedish micros? Some kind of national yeast conspiracy going on here? :-) Taste is caramel, burnt sugar, hints of nuts and alcohol. Smooth, but not very interesting. A decent doppelbock, but far from worthy of its rating.
