Tar black. Big head, slowly dissapearing. Smoky smell, thin body. Flavor of yeast, dark chocolate and wort. Quite disappointing, and don’t try it with oysters as they recommend. With stilton or roquefort or some other hefty cheese it has its role, but not with shellfish.

Aug ’14. A 0.5 l bottle from some Systembolaget in or around Stockholm. It poured clear brown reddish body with small head. Fine caramel aroma along with coffee and chicory. Flavor was lightly sour, roasted malty - mostly coffee with some chocolate especially later on in its nice long smooth and rounded finish. Quite pleasant and elegant, but very thin in body. Sourness in the flavor was occasionally a bit bothering in the whole experience. All in all, a fine porter.

50cl bottle from Systembolaget, Strömstad. Pours very dark mahogany, close to black with not much head to speak of. Moderate aroma of dark malts, chocolate, dark fruits and hints of licorice, vanilla, wood and dried fruits. Medium to moderate sweet with mild dark malty flavours and a fairly balanced bitterness. Fairly easy to drink but feels a bit thin and watery. Fair enough, but nothing I would buy again.

Pours a very deep copper body, almost black, with a tan head that is a bit small. The head is rather long-lived and leaves a good amount of lacing. Strong, malty and sweet aroma of chocolate, with vanilla and liquorice in the back. Strong flavour that is dominated by chocolate, but also lots of dark caramel and actually hints of mint in the background. Moderate sweet taste with a light to moderate bitter finish. Close to full-bodied, creamy and smooth texture, rather soft carbonation. It dries up a bit in the finish. A lovely porter just how I like ’em!

@ Havregatan 150109. Bottle (500 ml) from Systembolaget. Roasted malty and caramely with dried fruits, chocolate and liquorice, sweet, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry and roasted.

Another one in the "no genius but solid craftsmanship" category. Think Guinness but with more carbonation and minimally less intensive flavour. You can do way worse.

Ganska fräsch porter från Grebbestad med smak av bl.a. karamell. Avnjutes helst inte tillsammans med havets mest överskattade "frukt".

Bottle from Systemet. Pours a very dark brown with ruby tinge. Firm beige head. Heavily roasted and slightly ashy nose. Very dry palate. Not my favourite porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ home. 11/10-14. Dark brown/black. 2 finger greyish brown head. Salty coffee aroma with some bread and bitter chocolate. Ashy. Taste is fairly dry roasty and ashy with chocolate, coffee and salty bread. Minerals/stone in the finish. Medium bodied, tickling carbonation, soft texture. Well made, but a bit ashy and salty edgy.
