Five specialty malts including amber, chocolate and crystal, combine with unmalted roasted barley, to give Penny Porter a deep black appearance and an even deeper robust body. A host of complex aromas accompany this beautiful ale including cocoa and dark bitter chocolate, which further compliment the velvety texture and full mouth feel, achieved by mashing in at slightly higher temperatures. A perfect partner to a briney oyster and known as the fisherman’s best friend, Penny Porter drank well on the old wharves of London town and now at the Green Beacon!

On tap at Archive Beer Boutique. First beer from Green Beacon and it is a cracker. Deep black colour with what looks to be a big bold strong body. Bitter chocolate aroma with a nice smooth flavour with modest bitterness. All round good beer.
