Our Windjammer has a deep golden hue and is boldly bittered via early and late kettle hop injections backed up by adding even more hops during fermentation. This dry hopped ale is a standout in both it’s up front bitterness, its spicy citrus aroma and its long finish on the palette. A powerful beer originally brewed to survive the long trip from the UK to India, it is best paired with subtle foods because it will always take centre stage. A Hop driven delight that will take your breath away!

Can. Clear pale amber with a white head. Aroma of oranges, pepper, pine, biscuit. Lightish bodied. Some tropical fruit as well as biscuit, modest orange and grapefruit notes, some resin and a fair bit of pepper at the moderately bitter finish. Not sure this has canned all that well, seems a bit tired.

330mL can that pours a slightly cloudy golden hue. Slight floral/piney hop aroma with a nice hint of caramel. More pine and grapefruit in the flavour with a nice sweet caramel malt backing.

On tap. Pours a clear red-amber with a lasting one-finger white head and moderate carbonation. Aromas of lemon, flowers, caramel and oranges. The taste starts out briefly with some malt sweetness but a form grapefruit/lemon zest bitterness soon washes that away. Finishes bone dry with some astringency. Citrus and pepper aftertaste. Really enjoyed this.

On tap at the Brewery, August 2014. A bit hazy copper with a small head. Fresh and hippy with grapefruit, pineapple and some hay. The finish was quite bitter. A nice IPA from Australia.

On tap at brewery May 2013. Moderately bitter with a dry finish this beer doesn’t ask a lot of questions of the drinker, a beer you can drink without too much thought.

Solid effort, just missing excellent status. Moderate to high bitterness, well weighted body, just missing a bit of oomph and panache. Still as local beer goes, this is excellent and I am sure it will only improve with tweaking.

Growler from Zesty Edibles in Gympie. Very good Aussie IPA, right up there with the best. Very impressed with the aroma and tastes of citrus and fruits. Nice taste on the palate also. Question is, why hadn’t I tried this beer before!? Very good.
