The darker beers really were the stars of the show at this festival and this mild, from an unassuming brewpub in a small Suffolk town, was another impressive effort. Dark oak colour. Rich aroma with nuts and fruit. More of the same in the flavour, with coffee and chocolate putting in an appearance. The body was a touch lightweight but, overall, a very good beer. Cask (gravity dispense), Ipswich Beer Festival. NOTE: This is not the standard mild from this brewery, but a stronger version. It is not clear whether it was brewed specially for this festival.

Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. I had trouble writing readable notes at this stage of the festival, but dark chocolate and coffee were dominant in the aroma and flavour of this pleasant mild. Nice one.
