3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours amber in color with minimal head formation. Nose is sweet and fruity with a strong apple character, which I typically get from Glenlivet. A fair amount of malt note with a hint of wood and peat. The flavor is nice. The same apple note is there along with toffee and bread, maybe a touch of brown sugar. Minimal wood contribution and not much in the way of peat.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Keg. Pours with a hazed brown hued hued body with a small tan head that lasts. Aromas are of oak, coconut, dark fruits, earthy, medium scotch, brown sugar, melanoidins. Flavors are shockingly boozy for a beer that I thought was smaller than this. Brown sugar, dark fruits, oak, raisins, wood and currants. Oak is there, but the scotch character is somewhat low (probably a good thing). Pretty boozy, fuller mouthfeel, lower carbonation. Pretty decent.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Deep ruby hued amber, thin frothy sandy head, spotty lacing. Peaty nose, faint caramel, touch of campfire. Very subtle nose. Tart right up front, light caramel, a bit of peat and then finally iodine and charred wood on the backside. Not a huge iodine fan, and in this case its a little like heavy mineral water, or licking icicles off a tin roof. Before the iodine and metallic water shows up, there is a bit of sour dark pitted fruit showing up. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. This one seems to have less alcohol than the 7.8% Bourbon Ruination. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Muddled finish, soft iodine, mineral water, and stale/tart dark pitted fruit linger. Really needed more caramel malt body, but surprisingly enough, the 12.5% is well hidden.   However, another case of a wasted $17.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
"Really looking forward to this one! The base beer was pretty dang nice for 3 brewers known for their hoppy beers. The barrel influence was far more fruity and less peat than I had expected, but the booze was covered quite well, and though different than I expected, it just barely fell short of greatness. Very good."

10 cl from bottle at Oliver Twist.
Clear amber with no head. Aroma and taste of whiskey, malt, peat, caramel, apple and some dried fruit. The aftertaste was long. Heavy and a bit sprawling.

650ml corked and caged bottle from bev4less. Thanks Freddy. Pours a roan brown color with amber highlights, the head is small beige and instantly fizzes away to nothing with an audible hiss. The aroma is medium in strength with scotch whiskey, plums, mild spicy peat and a nuttiness. The taste is rather mellow with the single malt Glenlivet taking center stage and making all other flavors falter. The palate is full, creamy and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes medium in duration and dry. Overall: I really liked this one--great stuff. I am surprised by the mellowness of the flavor. Not a fan of scotch but this really tripped my trigger.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Aroma is dominated by peat and scorched wood with caramel, figs, toffee, butterscotch, vanilla. Taste is caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, figs, other dark fruit and through it all a very nice peated maltiness. Aftertaste is pure whisky peatiness with caramel hints. Really really good!!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served on tap at Stone’s 16th Anniversary Celebration. The appearance is a nice dark brown almost copper hue. The aromas are fruity with apple and caramel with some scotch coming through. The flavors are caramel malts, a lot of fruity apple, mildly peaty scotch. Medium full bodied with a slight boozineess. A complimentary barrel treatment but it doesn’t make the beer an order of magnitude better.
