3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap. Comes almost black with a nice tan head. Aroma of malt, spices, and fruit. Taste is roasted malt, spices, dark fruit, licorice, and hops. Unique.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours dark with quite a bit of weird colored fluffy head. Aroma is spices and some malt with a flavor to match. Not a beer I like.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Gift from Neko-chan. Lotsa spice: cinnamon, ginger, maybe lemon pepper, dirty butcher’s board, with a good touch of funk. Pitch black with a thick rocky tan head. Both sour and bitter in the initial; spices jump out, along with some mild chocolate; final goes into a moldy harsh dark sewer. Medium body. Interesting stuff that doesn’t quite work. Somehow the spices both add to and detract from the saison character. At first, they worked well with the chocolate notes; later, I just wanted them to go away.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Red Monk. It’s impossible to not buy a beer called Frienship Brew. Can’t be done. Nicely dry, a bit roasty. Some licorice. Odd, but it works pretty well for me.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
[5010-20121208] Cask. Spicy mint malt aroma. Black body with a quick creamy off-white head. Spicy jalapeno roasted malt flavour. Medium-full body with quite a spicy base. Not really a fan, too spicy. (6/3/5/3/11) 2.8

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 29, 2013 This is one of the stranger beers I’ve had in awhile. Incredibly spicy, almost like a Christmas beer. Tastes heavily of cloves, pepper, and nutmeg. Nicely bitter, with a dark appearance and a ton of head.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bien hecha.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Black (duh), brown head, solid lacing. Aroma of dark cocoa, subtle licorice. Taste is similar, in a combo with coffee that really doesn’t work.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
2012.12.24 - 12oz bottle (bottled 07/31/12) in pint glass. Pours dark with a one inch foamy tan head which settles to half a finger. Aroma is odd, hinting evergreen or pine without actually being pine. Taste is similar, odd unidentifiable spice. Certainly unique tasting, but not necessarily tasty enough to warrant future reruns. Certainly seems in the black saison ballpark, vaguely reminiscent of the mild creaminess of Four Witches.
